Just wanted to drop by and say hi. For a long while, it was just too difficult to come to this page after losing Eddy. But, time does heal. It has been almost 4 years now since Eddy's initial diagnosis. As many may recall, we added another sweet Golden to our home that year in August, Millie. Millie just turned 4! And, last December, another delightful Golden Retriever joined our family, Toby! Eddy's boy, Blake, went off to college last fall and we found ourselves as empty nesters, so the pitter patter of four more little feet was what we needed.
I was reminded of this group a week ago as I walked into an outdoor patio at our local restaurant and saw a Tripawd hopping in. I stopped dead in my tracks and watched him. Its really so amazing to watch these incredible animals navigate without missing a beat. I just wanted to stop by today to thank all of you for helping me through some of the hardest days of my life. I am not sure how I would have made it without the support of the wonderful people I met in this group. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Betsy Golden and Angel, Eddy. Eddy was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-23-14, had a left rear amputation 8-07-14, had 3 rounds of carboplatin chemotherapy, a small lung met was discovered in October, had 2 rounds of doxorubicin, and unfortunately more lung mets were discovered. Eddy fought cancer valiantly and went to the Rainbow Bridge 1-6-15, at the age of 7 years and 359 days, just six days short of his 8th birthday. Best Dog, Ever....you will never be forgotten.
Betsy it's really nice to hear from you, thank you for the beautiful note. It's mind boggling how fast time goes by. Four years? Wow, that's fast, and yet it's not right?
I'm so glad that you could smile when you saw that Tripawd hop into the restaurant. Our heart always skips a beat when we see one! Yes, they are amazing, just like your Eddy! What a gift he sent you that day, like "Hey Mom, remember how pawesome three-leggers are!"
Totally understand that it can be difficult to return here when your heart is in pain. No matter how long you are away though, know that you are forever part of this family, and Eddy's spirit lives on.
Would you happen to have any photos of him that you'd like to share? We would love to see them! You can read instructions for adding images here or just PM me and I'll get them up for you.
How wonderful you have Millie and Toby to keep you busy! I'll bet they are quite a pair. Give them smooches and extra lovin' from us!
xoxoxo
