Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

The rescue group that thought we were too old for a rambunctious pup wouldn't even let us meet their dog. The lady at the shelter where we ended up getting Ollie said she had her reservations about how he would do, but she didn't tell us that until she saw how well he was progressing. In fact she said that they have another couple of "project dogs" if we were so inclined. We told her that right now, Ollie is all we can handle.
He definitely wasn't perfect today, but for his first time in a downtown setting, he did a pretty good job. Good thing I pulled him back before he took a swim in the fountain! He is such a social butterfly that he feels the need to greet anybody and everybody. Next week's challenge is a dog-friendly cafe.

I.love that Ollie's rescue group has some more "project dawgs"! It's almost impossible to believe Ollie was once labeled.a "project dawg"! It really is amazing how you've founf the "Ollie withi.". He was born to be yours! 🙂

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
is it time for the further adventures of Ollie? I guess it's been at least a month since we posted anything here, but it has not been an uneventful month. Ollie took a three session snake avoidance class and has also continued his Outdoor Adventure series.
He has been to an outdoor patio at a restaurant to learn how to behave around other diners. He did great there. The place even has a dog-friendly section of the menu, so he got to have a doggie ice cream with cookies in it.

We have been camping up at a lake in the mountains where he got to go swimming and also got to go running off-leash on some of the trails. His off leash recall was perfect!

And today, for the last session of the Outdoor Adventure Class, he got to go paddleboarding! I call this picture, "Who's too old?" It was Garry's first attempt on a paddleboard, too.

Other adventures included going down a slide at a playground, running free with the whole class in the hills above Boise and swimming several times. He is one happy pup! And we are two very happy pawrents!!

PADDLEBOARDING.???? You and your Daddy look like you could compete in Paddleboarding Olympics! You both look cool as a cucumber. The team behind you look pretty amateurish.
Such a well behaved boy in the restaurant.. I had hoped to have a video of Merry Murtle by now behaving herself at a Starbucks outdoor table. Going over to everyone and slobbering on their table as she tries to lick the whip cream off their Cappuccino...yeah, we've got a ways to go!
And recall off leash? 'WOW!! I'd settle for "recall"for Frankie "off leash" in the same room!
Ollie is truly a stunningly handsome boy! And you two have truly done MIRACULOUS work!
