…. That's a good question for your vet. Although our prednisone
link leads to an article about side effects when taking it in higher doses, it may not be applicable to your situation. So ask the vet and then let
…received the two medicines for him today: prednisone
& melphalon. I'm going to start them tomorrow but I wanted to check if there are known concerns for either medicine? I've talked to the vet
… There are some instances where it shows promise in shrinking tumors, among other benefits. Obviously you can't use Piroxicam and a steroid (prednisone
) at the same time.
Another little side note. My Vet reminded me that sometimes a dog will pant or have a little cough every now and
… quality and comfort. As Nancy suggested, talk with your Vet about cough medicine. While my Hapoy Hannah did cough, her Vet gave her Prednisone
to help reduce any inflammation that may be caused by the meds. I also ocassionally gave her a pain med to help her relaxe and sleep at night
…- multiple myeloma. Monday is blood work day and then we are going to see the oncologist on the 28th.
My vet mentioned that chemotherapy & Prednisone
would be our go-to but the oncologist would have more information. Then explained that he has 6-9 months left. I'm terrified because I continue…
…to read awful side-effects for Prednisone
on top of I don't know how chemotherapy will affect him. Everything I read so far involves relapse, that it won't be cured, that this will

is a reasonable option in case there is swelling on the spinal cord.

routine with varying doses on Sunday while continuing with our other pain meds regiment (arthritis).
We have another massage scheduled for
…that can be done IF he does start showing more symptoms. My Happy Hannah had a met "as big as a baseball" the Vet said. At some poi we added Prednisone
and some low dose pain meds and she got a couple of extended quality months even AFTER the thing had gotten so big.
So R will decide when he
…sounds outstanding (and even the MRI cost is close to what it would cost here in the states).
One last thought: has your vet mentioned using Prednisone
as a temporary quality of life booster? Maybe Dr. Pam can weigh in on that one, I'm not sure if it's ideal for his situation but thought I'd
…. Finally, he explains why it is no longer his go-to drug for treating pain in animals.
Steroids in Dogs and Cats: should you avoid prednisone?
Many of us are familiar with using prednisone
for dog cancer inflammation (lung metastasis particularly. But as Dr. Avery explains in "Steroids…
…for Pets: the Essential Guide!" he explains how prednisone
(and prednisolone for cats) is also used to treat many other conditions like allergies, autoimmune diseases, adrenal malfunction like Addisons
…!! And ya'll know what, that kind of determination and never give up attitude is a really good trait to have on this journey 😎
Im so glad the Prednisone
is helping! I remember my Vet said that there comes a time when Prednisone
can actually be quite the miracle drug in some instances. Yay for
…sleep, Ate, wagged, happy. Sometimes there was a noticeable change in her breath pattern, sometimes not so much.
She was also prescribed Prednisone
. If I recall, the theory was that the met would cause inflammation amd the Pr3d would help reduce that this providing better quality. It did
… disc issue (still able to use back legs, just barely though). I think at first he was given the steroid by injection, then the pill form of the Prednisone
. Along with keeping confined and rested as much as possible. It definitely made a pawsitive difference!
As daunting as this is, the fact
…comfort often extends quality, and quality often translates into more good time for loving and spoiling!!
Cough medicines are often helpful. Prednisone
is often helpful. And as Jerry said, maybe acupuncture, etc. DEFINITELY some pain meds, moreso for the remaining osteo leg.
It just
…IMHA at 11. That diagnosis is as deadly and horrible as cancer and the treatment took a year and a half. The treatment involved very high dose prednisone
and, once it became obvious that would kill her, strong immunosuppressive drugs. The prednisone

This Sunday 8/23 will be 4 weeks since he first injured his elbow (before it ruptured) and has not been able to walk
…your other post on the big doses of Prednisone

can be stopped abruptly or not
…he has the spasms are they as severe as before? And have you tried gentle massage to see where he might have some knots causing the pain?
Giving prednisone
as an anti-inflammatory for post-amputation pain is a new one for us, never heard of that before. Is that because he couldn't take the Meloxicam
…are still having some spasms. Starting to wonder if they are cramps in the muscle since the Gab doesn't seem to be making a difference.
Both the prednisone
and the meloxicam were anti-inflammatory meds.
He's walking more and seems more himself greeting us with his favorite blue bone in the mornings
… after MAJOR SURGERY??? So hard to beloeve there are still old school vets out there they aren't up to date on pain management
!
Giess the Prednisone
was for inflammation?? It isn't really a pain med either.
If this vet had his leg amputated he would be on a morphine drip for days!!!
…the other rooms. That seems to help.
He was originally on meloxicam before his check up. They switched to Gabapentin and a six day dose of prednisone
. The Gabapentin is liquid (so was the meloxicam) and thankfully the prednisone
is tiny he’ll just eat it.
Knock on wood, yesterday and this

…. You know her so well and have a good handle on her care. I'm so impressed with the pain management
ideas. Thank you for explaining. Yes, we use prednisone
more often here as far as I know, at least on dogs.
When you do find more information about the gold injections please share the links here, it

About your questions: (sorry I didn`t get yet how to quote):
Prednisone
is the prodrug von Prednisolone. Both of them have the same effect. Here in Switzerland we use prednisolone. Maybe in US Prednisone
is used more
…also on a NSAID at the same time. I realize that Xhosa was taken off her anti-inflammatory due to GI concerns. Are there any other options such as prednisone
for short term use?
I believe I read here that it's recommended to use tramadol with gabapentin for it to be effective. Perhaps you can post the

His abdomen does not look swollen and nothing looks like it could drain. It really looks like a peeling sunburn to me. He is also on prednisone
and tramadol. The doctor had to put a stitch in his remaining elbow where he has walked on it. That's what the pain medicine is for. The prednisone
is for the neurologic inflammation on his shoulders from being lifted with the harness. To be clear, that's what it's for. I'm the one assuming
…this update! YES! YAY! WOOOHOO!
The thing that really seems to help is the predisolone.
Can you remind us, what is the difference between Prednisone
and Prednisolone?
But to bridge the time until the prednisolone started to help, i gave her opioids
Now that is something we need to
…end of the road by any means. We've seem dogs get good extended time beyond what a Vet has "projected".
It may already be in Jerry's links, but Prednisone
and a low dose pain. med worked well keeping my Happy Hannah co fortavle and Happy when she did start sh met symptoms. Every dog is differe t,
…will be the day. We've had about 3 good days in a row now. As far as meds, I feel like I have a whole pharmacy for him. He gets Amantadine 100g, prednisone
