…most likely is a pain management
tweaking and determining what is best for him on a consistent basis. I can't remember Jerry's comment about the Percocet, but I don't recall it being used here very frequently, which means nothing at all, but just thought I'd mention it

…timing for his medications today as my partner was out with him and didn't bring the pain killers with her. We are trying to see if not doing the Percocet will help with appetite and drowsiness. Plus it wasn't a medication that was originally prescribed for his recovery.

He seems to have finally

…a handsome boy! Oh my gosh I'm in

Well I'm not a vet but I think your instincts are spot on about the Percocet. It's a pretty strong narcotic and I do recall some new Tripawds members giving it to their dogs. It will definitely dull appetite. As long as he

…good!  Glad  he enjoyed a bit of breakfast this morning.  Yeah, whatever it takes at this point food wise.

Don't  have any insight into  the Percocet,  other than I don't  recall seeing it used here....or very little maybe? So just pit that in the FWIW category.  But it certainly  seems,

…I cooked him an egg which he really liked.

As for pain management
we were given Gabapentin 300mg x 3 daily and Gabapentin x1 daily.

We had Percocet at the house from when he was struggling with pain from the osteosarcoma (OSA), the first night we had a bit of an incident where I went to help…

…him out of our van and caused him a bit of pain.

He was also restless from pain the first night so we called the vet and asked if Percocet would be alright to give as well, because we had been giving it too him before alongside all the meds listed above while he was managing the OSA pain…

…from pain either so far.

I just don't want to under-do the pain medications as I heard getting the pain back under control but perhaps the Percocet is too much for him and maybe we can advocate for an alternative that he agrees with more if we notice the pain is getting worse.

…out if one of the pain medications might be causing some loss of appetite, because when be ate after coming home he had just been started back on Percocet, and now since giving him that he doesn't trust his cheese snacks and doesn't really want to eat much now.

Just don't want to have the pain creep

… asJerrysaid, not unusual  at all for a dog not mobile yet this early on.  He still have strong  hospital  meds in him, as well as the Gaba and the Percocet (the Percocetscan def add to him be whacked out).  As Jerry said, if you think he may be too heavily  medicated, you can ask about maybe reducing

…Cannot imagine how frustrated  you must be. And on tape of everything  else, you have horrible knee issues and have to deal with the side effects of Percocet.

So just to clarify again.....

▪︎How long ago was Maicie's amputation?

▪︎Up until recently,  she was walking just fine?  Is it possible

…swelling from hopping back and forth now both back legs hurting her.

I take a lot of pain meds now from my incompetent knee surgeon. Hate Percocet, it so impacts my short term memory. Why three days to remember come back on here.  Only way I can walk now. Both implants have to be replaced.

….

Only reason I know the pain stuff. Two knee replacements second one bad. So years of that just logic defies what I see. Serious does of Percocet and hate the drug.

Turns out the oncologist was not the one who told me about the cancer in the chest.  Maicie was supposed to have the stuff…

…every six months. Amazing Breeder Canada. Maicie mom and dad still alive both 15. Dad from Sweden.  I went in knowing a fighting chance.

but Percocet screws up my short term memory.

help. Worse has taken me months how to figure this out. Hate Percocet

Anyway the derramaxx killed his

…and not show him how worried I am. ❤️ Just spending lots of time snuggling, giving pets, and just staying close to him.

As for pain meds he is on Percocet and Gabapentin.

Thank you everyone again - your support and care means so much. Will definitely stay connected and share pics! 💕

…a vet, as for his mobility challenges right now, it sounds to me like those are also normal. First, he's on major drugs (interesting you mention Percocet, we were just wondering yesterday if dogs were being given that drug after surgery, since now more vets are not using Tramadol because it's shown to

…out once in a while and he falls over. He only seems to want to sleep (which is understandable given he is recovering from surgery). He is taking Percocet (oxycodone) and Gabapentin.

I am just very worried. He seems worse than before surgery and I am scared. I know recovery goes differently for

…and early evening. Today I have stopped counting. Vet wanted me to start weaning the Tramadol then when I called about his pain they wanted to add Percocet. Too many vets and one does not know what the other is doing. I am going back to my regular vet, who has an accupuncturist we will see today at 4pm

…proven otherwise, I would assume phantom pain
or spinal pain.  Also sometimes shivering could be secondary to opiates such as Percocet.  I have not used that drug myself but any narcotics could do this. If they have checked her electrolytes and blood glucose then it is probably not

…all because it's a front amputation, she's a bully and the osteoarthritis in the remaining good leg.  Because of all this, she's been on gabapentin, percocet, meloxicam since this all began, and then amantadine was added to the mix a while back and she had one round of pamidronate with her last chemo round

….  She's always been a very lean and athletic bulldog, so that's all good. Plus she's been on gabapentin since her diagnosis 4 mos ago, (along w Percocet, amantadine and meloxicam) so her pain is about as managed as it can get right now, and there shouldn't be too much in the way of constipation, etc

…and just put her down? The suffering is killing me. But any choices are for her best interest.  I'm thinking at leat 2 to 3 weeks?

She was on percocet before the surgery and I'm thinking of transitioning to see if the side effects are better. Any thoughts?

The sucralate and probiotics, when did

…forgot that I didn’t have my four legs anymore and tried to climb up on the bed with them. I made it half way but then got stuck ( I’m blaming the Percocet). My Dad came to rescue me and up I got. Of course then there was no room for him so he had to go upstairs to the big bed. I basically took over

…so sorry. You can tell her that she might find someone on the Bone Cancer Dogs list has been through this.

We didn't even know that dogs can take percocet (thought it was a human drug). It's pretty strong stuff, not sure what would be better. Is there are way for her to get a second opinion before

…to find out whether palliative radiation will ease the inflamation and therefore help his mobility and comfort. For now, Jake is on a drug called "percocet". Unfortunately, the radiation oncologist will not be back in Calgary until Thursday and Sarah is afraid that Jake might not make it that long.

…a most frightened look that breaks my heart. It takes a while to settle back down. Massaging her hindquarters seems to help somewhat. She gets a Percocet every 8 hours. She's supposed to go to 2 a day in 2 days.

Other concerns are eating and depression. She eats a good supper and breakfast

…chest to her flank last night and that had me worried, but it looks better this morning. We had an uneventful night until  she needed another Percocet at 6 am.

I couldn't get the mattress off by myself, so I put 2 dog beds together and Tansi in bed with me. Sometime after 6 am Jamaica

…pick a pee place, and came in mostly on her own. When I asked if they wanted to go outside, she pogo-ed a bit, which tickled me pink.

She had a Percocet about 4 pm but is panting now. Not sure if it's from her excursion outside or if she needs a Percocet again (it's 7:30) and her prescription says
