…ve been trying over the past year to find something for Domino to do that isn't too strenuous on his remaining legs. But apparently a 2yr old Australian Shepherd can't be worn out that easy lol. We even went…

…fancy and it cost me about $2 to make. I bought a small dowel rod, and on one end I attached a small rubber ball (a tennis ball could be used, but Domino is way too into tennis balls), on the other end I made myself a handle and attached a clicker (I'll try to get pics later today). I started…

…Fit Paws
targets to teach him to go to place all around the house.

We work with the target once a day, and it seems to do the trick. I guess my Domino is much smarter than I gave him credit for 😉

…that ramp.

Anyway...that's how we dealt with our boys being able to get in and out of bed with us.  Hope you find a suggestion that works for Domino.

…all!

So I recently got a new mattress and box springs and they're a good bit taller than my old ones. Domino has always slept in the bed with me and had zero problems jumping up and down. Since getting the new bed I've noticed every morning he seems to be…

…jumps down onto a rug which gives him enough stability that he doesn't fall. I just hate seeing him stumble

Thanks so much!

Your nose scent work for Domino actually inspired me to check on line for training for Frankie (still unsure about name)! As a hound, he woud LOVE this and help fill his desire…

…to track things. Great idea Cassie! Thanks...and can't wait to follow Domino's "nose adventures"!

I'd love to write about our experience Rene! I'm very excited to see how it helps Domino.

…only had 2 spots left in their March class. So she reserved a spot for us, and in the mean time we have a quick free orientation on the 31st with Domino to see the facility and meet the trainers and for them to assess Domino and his personality! And the trainer that I spoke to has a Tripawd Jack…

…Russell!! So I see good things coming from this place for sure. Hopefully all goes well!

…vets say, it's much more effective to tire out a dog's brain than his body. Nosework can definitely do that.  Here's a post we wrote about it. Domino will do GREAT at this activity!

…all!

Domino is now almost 9 months post amp and doing fantastic! But one thing we're having trouble with is his energy level! Despite being a Tripawd he's…

…of work and what you thought of it? My goal is to hopefully wear him out mentally and keep his leg safe and healthy.

Thanks all!

…things like swimming. Our ebook Loving Life on Three Legs, discusses this and gives tips, as do these Gear Blog Posts and the four-part series with Domino and rehab vet Dr. Kennedy.

Later as she gets stronger, your walks can be a bit longer but really should never be more than 15 minutes at a time.

If anyone has a vid of their front legger taking the harness on and off I'd love to see it.

I can try to get a video of Domino putting his on and off. He's learned to balance and give his paw so I can put it through for him. I just have to try and get one when he's not so…

…excited lol. He turns into a blur of a tripawd when it's time to put his harness on!

…! I also own a front left amputee, Domino. A very very big help to me was taking him to see a Canine Rehab Specialist. We discussed alot of those issues. She was able to show me with her…

…leg. My biggest concern was the same as yours, joint damage to that remaining leg because of all the extra weight. Since going to her we have put Domino on a joint supplement and try to keep him lean and healthy. My Rehab therapist was a very big believer in prosthetics
and braces as well as joint…

…seeing if you can find a rehab specialist near you to take your girl to. They have some wonderful advice and tips on exercises you can do at home. Domino walks like your girl, at a faster pace he seems to be steadier than when walking, I think its just a front tripawd thing lol. Hopefully some of this…

…how much the traction
boots really seemed to help her, she didn't slide at all! We also have all hardwood floors and we do have rugs everywhere for Domino, but we can't cover the entire floor in rugs (though we've tried lol). He always manages to find that gap in the rugs and wipe out. It's worst…

…get a video of his wiggle butt dance. We're slowly trying to add rugs to his problem areas, but I feel like boots would be cheaper.

…I guess what I'm trying to say that its not how long the walk is, its the quality. If you slowly increase the length of your walk just keep watching Domino for signs of fatigue, stop regularly to make sure he doesn't overdo it, and carry lots of water. If Domino overheats during your walk try the swamp…
