Our experience at UWVMTH was outstanding. The staff there is top notch and they were so good to Max. I would recommend it to anyone, but especially those needing special treatment like our kids.

I'll second that heartily!  Yoda was referred there and everyone from the vet students to reception has been as warm as they are knowledgeable.  Even staff who aren't seeing him that day, if they've worked with him before and have the time, they'll come over to see him and ask how he's been doing.

I'm really sorry our paths didn't get to cross there, Paula and Spirit Max.

We had a cat back in the 90's that was treated there for a tumor that was wrapped around his penis under the skin.  They did radioactive dye studies to find out what was causing his problem of leaking bloody urine.   When they found the tumor and removed it, they had to keep him for 10 days.  They were so wonderful with him!  One of the best places in the Midwest I'd say!

Chuy, showing everyone that Tripawds do everything 3 times better than regular dogs!

I have had dogs for close to 40 years and I have had to deal with many illnesses. My local vets are truly the best but when my dog presented with a tumor wrapped around his front leg, off we went to UW Vetmed in Madison, Wisconsin to be seen by the specialists. They are just outstanding, both in their medical skills and knowledge and in their supportive aftercare and follow up. They are always available and go well beyond what is expected to provide care and support for the patient and for the client. It is a six hour round trip for me and worth it. I can't reccomend them enough or say enough good things about them, especially the oncology department.

I graduated from UW-Madison School of Vet Med in 1992 and they have always been a leader in oncology.  Most oncologists still use the UW-Madison chemo protocol when treating lymphoma.

I don't miss the snow but I sure do miss the city of Madison!

While I don't have any direct experience with the UW program, I can say that Dr. Habermann who is now with this hospital, formerly of the CSU veterinary hospital, provided unparalleled care for our Molly during her amputation one year ago.

Molly was diagnosed with Synovial Cell Sarcoma (grade 3 with hystiocytic markers) and had her front leg amputated on August 15th 2008.  We had a wonderful two years with her until she passed at age 13.5 on August 29th 2010.  As far as we could tell, her cancer never returned.
