We recently purchased one of the Ruffwear harnesses for our dog, Oscar, and it was invaluable! Unfortunately, shortly after life saving amputation surgery, Oscar our boxer lost his battle with cancer. Our harness (Med, Blue) is only a month old and we'd love to donate it to a dog in need!!

Hello, I’m back!
i measured Rileys girth according to instructions. He is 27 or 28 inches. Since he is still young, I suspect he is going to grow more. I am confident the medium size will fit him well now and allow for growth.
Riley is about 2 years old. He has left front leg amputation. I adopted him from Golden Retriever Rescue in November 2017. We live in Toronto Canada. Riley is not a purebred Golden. He has a small head and can slip out of his collar easily. I admit he has escaped from me a few times. I’m scared something will happen to him so he has been mostly in the house or in my backyard. He can run very fast but not for long distances so I catch up to him. He’s strong now and pulls on the leash.
Riley came from Istanbul through Golden Rescue. He was a street dog. He probably got injured by a vehicle. When he arrived here the vet assessed his paw. It was determined that Riley had a previous surgery in Istanbul as a plate and screws were found secured to his bone. But the leg was not functional and he was just dragging it around and not using it. Golden Rescue concurred with the vet and the surgery took place here in Toronto to amputate the leg. Riley stayed in foster care for two weeks and healed quickly.
Then I adopted him. He’s a good dog and very smart. He likes children, has good eating manners, doesn’t bark, has zest for life. Yes, he chews stuff, but less often now. He could learn almost anything! I just need the special harness to fit him comfortably. Thank you so much for considering Riley to wear Oscars Ruffwear Harness. About Oscar - Oscar the boxer is my nephew, my sister got him when he was he was a baby, and he was the runt. He always was always on the smaller size, but with a large heart. However, I was more than just an aunt, as about half of his 10 1/2 years, he had lived between myself and my sister. He was one of the best dogs, well mannered, well tempered and stole the heart of anyone who met him. He also made a great big brother to my now 4 year old (two legged) nephew.
At Thanksgiving 2017 - Oscar started limping, and after many vet appointment, right around Christmas we found out it was osteosarcoma. Shortly after NYE we had his leg amputated, to alleviate the pain and in hopes of delaying the spread of the cancer. We were told we could hope for 2 months to 2 years. Before Oscar could begin chemo, a month after surgery, we took Oscar in to the ER vet, as he was breathing heavy. It was then we found out the cancer had spread to his lungs. A week later we made the decision to say goodbye. We had the vet come to our home, to not add any extra anxiety to Oscar, and right before we said goodbye, we rewarded him with 2 big chocolate cupcakes... That he LOVED! .. and that is the positive image we hold onto from that day.
