Who wants to hook up with Wyatt and the Tripawds team somewhere around Reno, Nevada sometime before December20? We will be in Fernley until then. We'll need to work around Jerry's schedule so wait to hear from him, or Rene. Wink

I'm in!  I am checking with my friends about a private tour of their nature center.  I work Mon-Fri, but most weekends are open.  Weather permitting over the Donner Summit…

Okay, my friends at Animal Ark said they have Dec. 12 open.  This weekend I'm in Napa, next one is Thanksgiving, following one they have plans, so that was the soonest.  I guess we can just keep paws crossed that it isn't snowing and there aren't too many Xmas parties to keep others from coming?  Animal Ark is truly a special place.  They have a nature trail in their canyon that goes past all the natural exhibits that house all sorts of wildlife, all rescues and non-releasable rehabs, each with a special story. http://www.animalark.org  My cheetah, Zulu, is there.  They close entirely for the winter, but will do this for us.  I promised them we would make a donation for their time.  They have lots of mouths to feed and live for their animals.  They are one of us.

Marking my calendar…

Is this something we can bring our tripawds to?

If the weather is mild we can make the pass-I think that's probably the case with all us non-snow bunnies! We have great cars for the bay area, but they just don't do well in snow.

May 2001-Jan 21, 2010.....I'm a dog and I'm AWESOME!..... Always.

Cairasue,  Dogs will not be allowed on the private tour of the Wildlife Park, but can wait in our vehicles.  They are out in the desert, so before/after I believe we could let them out to play ouside the Animal Ark property.  I will find out where, but it's all open land.  :)

Hope you make it.  We are all praying for No Snow!

Well, it looks like René will be working that day since her overtime hours just started. But Wyatt and I may still be able to make it. I just fear he may eat our headrests waiting for the play time after the tour.

Would they allow us to film our visit and post a video tour on Jerry's blog? We would also be happy to donate up to $20 if this happens. Or, if anyone wants to donate via PayPal and include a note about Animal Ark we could write a check for more on behalf of all those who contribute.

I will ask about video, I suspect that would be fine, but want to be sure.

BUMMER about Rene.  I work for Fedex and 'tis the season to be miserably overworked, so I completely understand.  After this meetup, I will probably only get two days off through Xmas.

Thanks for the Paypal link.  I will definately add some $ as soon as we know it's clear sailing with the weather.  This is a beautiful facilty for animals in need and with the climate, they close every winter, so they really run a tight ship financially and it is much appreciated.  The founder/owners are the ones giving us the tour as a personal favor.  :)

Poor Wyatt has a bit of separation anxiety?  Raven still does too, but at least is okay in the cab of the truck as he finally learned that I always come back.  I could never leave him anywhere else though, he wouldn't understand.  Worse case scenario, if you need to, you could possibly put him in the bed of my truck, I have a shell.  He'd have Raven through the window, and we could put familar blakets for him?  At least he couldn't do an damage in there.

Quite literally I fear. You'd likely end up without a window. Did you hear his middle name is Houdini?

He actually fares much better in our truck than if we leave him in the trailer alone, which I'll be leaving in Fernely if we make the trip anyway. He'll be fine if we can go tire him out first. Anyone else up for the trip?

My first dog, as a child, was named Houdini. We gave up building anything that could keep her in the back yard. Come to think of it, none of my dogs ever successfully stayed in a backyard without people there, but I handle it a bit differently than my parents did. The dogs call the shots of course.

Similar to Wyatt Ray, my first dog as an adult had quite the appetite if left alone anywhere. Once I was working with him right there but in the car. Came back to find a chewed up stickshift, radio, all the little knobbies on the dash. Another time it was keys to a typewriter. Gotta love a dog with a good appetite, right Wyatt?
