How about Fort Fuston in SF? I don't remember it all being fenced, if any, but the place is HUGE and dogs are allowed off leash.

Fort Funston is beautiful, but I'm concerned about the hike back UP from the beach.

I was thinking, if we wanted to keep it close we could just go to Point Isabel-if we stay in the grassy field by mudpuppy's, then there won't be too much temptation to go to the water-and if some were more inclined, there is a ramp down to the water along the path. Just something that popped into my head today. I'm so used to how Caira USED to dive into the water and over the rocks, I was worried, but I had forgotten about the little ramp. Also, like I said there's that huge field-and it has picnic tables at one end AND the sit n stay cafe-which means coffee and hotdogs, etc.

I bet Codie Rae was frustrated at Lake DeValle! I remember once going to Cesar Chevez in Berkeley. Dogs are allowed offleash at the top of the hill-you can see the water all around, but you aren't allowed offleash around the bottom of the hill or to get in the water! Caira Sue was beside herself!

I think Dillon Beach is different because it's privately owned? Not sure.

Hey guys,

So it looks like we are zeroing on a date–September 12th. Now we just need a place.

We kinda don't like Pt Isabel bc we have had lots of bad things happen there. Dillon Beach looks great but it is kind of a hike…..

Can't vouch for it bc we have never been there but this place sounds pretty cool! http://www.millvalleydogpark.org/

Its a three acre dog park in Mill Valley–fenced, water, not too hot, agility course, and semi-centrally located, what more could a tripawd ask for? If we have time this weekend we will check it out but it looks fantastic.

There is also a dog park in Benicia, also centrally located and with BBQ grills but no water (of the swimming variety): Phenix Dog Park but it has gotten some mixed reviews……

watcha think?

btw Codie Rae did get to swim at Lake Del Valle but not until after hiking along a narrow, sometimes scary trail (steep drop off to the lake) and the beach we were on had lots of broken glass and several dead fishy items (mmm, mmm, good!). She had a darn good time!

Woohoo! Tripawds Rule!

I think the Mill Valley park looks fabulous!  And with all the other dog people there, someone may benefit by learning about Tripawds, too.

Thanks for all the research.  I think we're almost there…!

Montana and we are out of town Sept 12 but we could do the Sept 19 at Mill Valley if that works for everyone.

Isn't Sept 19 the day of the Colorado K9K walk?  We could do it "virtually" with Team Tripawd!

Cry Aaaaaawhoooo (the sound of a bereft tripawd howling) Cry

We most likely can't make it on the 19th and I probably won't know for sure until close to the day.  I think if most other people can make the 19th then we should go ahead and plan for that day, because of the great tie-in to the Cancer walk. Somebody would have to create Team Tripawd though (which, as I recall, requires a commitment of 250 dollars). And we should advertise our event everywhere we can think of (like in the Bay Woof, Bark, and Fetch online event calendars–I would volunteer to do that).

On the other hand, if most people can't make the 19th, Codie Rae is still available the 12th Smile. Otherwise she won't be available until the weekend of October 10/11 or later because she is going to Montana! Laugh

I love the idea of attaching it to the colorado cancer walk. I am planning on registering to be a virtual walker- hopefully we can get a team tripawd together. I know we sure had a good time at the Elk Grove Walk.

We aren't around the 12th or the 19th- Crying but will definitely be thinking of you all if you choose either of those dates. If it gets bumped to Oct. we have a more open schedule.

I'll keep a watch out to see what you all end up with.

Codie Rae-we would be willing to meet on the 12th and then meet others on the 19th. We are always looking for a little fun on the weekends with our tripawd! So if you have some time…let us know!

I've never been to the Mill Valley dog park-but it looks swanky!

I don't really understand how the virtual tripawd support cancer awareness thing works….but if there's something we can do that doesn't take a lot of cash-we are up for it! Just someone teach us how!

Thanks! I can't wait to meet bay area tripawds! Wahoo!

Cemil and I can go to Mill Valley on the 12th and again on the 19th for a virtual K9K–I checked the website and Tripawds doesn't have a team yet, but it only takes 10 people signing up ($25 each).  Surely we can come up with that!

Ok guys, we're finally chiming in on this one, because we now have time to think about forming a team. Sounds like we can all commit to the event? Cool! We'll form a team today. Stay tuned, I'll start a new topic in just a sec…
