Another eventful day for Iris...

Woke up to see that I haven't puppy proofed well enough. I left the shed open and she got ahold of some rat poison I'd forgotten about.

Rushed her to the vet and they induced vomiting and she did have pellets in her...

Luckily the type of poison left out is counteracted by vitamin k1...

This dog is trying to kill herself I think...

I'm getting gray hairs here...

Oh my Gosh.  I am glad that you got her to the ER vet fast enough.  Iris stop getting into things.  Stay safe.

She's doing fine. Business as usual. I did see the green pellets in her vomit. I guess they use peroxide to induce vomiting. I give her 2 pills, twice a day of vitamin k1, and they said she will be fine.

Yep another $400 bucks. I don't think Iris realizes that there is no more money. The credit card is maxed, and the checking account looks something like a deflated basketball that has been left in the sun.

I love dogs I really do, but I'm starting to wonder what the heck I signed up for. I know my dad is looking down, giggling his ass off saying "I told you son" when he said no more pets, as we just get so bonded that we go to endless limits to care for them. I'm going to have to prostitute myself for any vet bill that comes up next... Don't get any ideas Bernie!

OMD! SO glad Iris is OK (if not your bank account). Take that rat poison to the nearest hazardous materials disposal site and invest in a couple traps. Its a little messier but alot safer! Hopefully Iris can keep herself out of trouble long enough to attend the Big Pawtay this weekend!

Iris is doing fine! The vet said if she doesn't have blood in her stool by now that the vitamin k is working. Really dodged a bullet there as I was almost on my way to San Mateo for Mothers day and she would've gone un-checked until the evening.

Yea Codie I had no idea I still had rat poison in the shed from a year ago when I was stupid and left 50lbs of bird seed in there, and when the rats found it I'll bet they said "Eureka! This is where we shall spend winter" tore my shed to shreds...lol

I'm not even going to bother with traps as I can see Iris having an accident with those too. I might consider a cat, even though I'm not a cat person, just to give Iris some company and control my 3rd world nieghboor's mice issue as of late.

OK so back to this threads original purpose, the pawtie! Other than bringing my gold plated pup, can I bring anything?

Ok, so its a week later and us West Coasters have been totally overshadowed by the BIG East Coast Pawty but we had a grrrrreat time at Mill Valley last Saturday. It was pretty low key but all us regulars were there and it was, as always, so fantastic to see everyone. We were sorry none of our newest N CA members were unable to make it sadThanks again to John and Diane and Bernie and Linda for providing the incentive to get together! We only got a few phone pix ... check out my blog to see 'em!
