hello thankyou all for your replies :) well its all been a very horrible journey but thankfully all is getting better each day.We took Woody to the vets last Saturday as he had a fall and was in pain holding up his leg, they took him in for xray ect and gave me a ring to let us no its a bad break we cant help here will refer you to a really great surgeon, oh no poor woody this is not good :(,so they kept him there overnite :( which was so upsetting as he really dosnt do well around other people,we rescued him when he was a year he is now 5,and he always sleeps in my bed!!!!! we picked him up sunday morn and drove him an hour away to the new vets and they took him away and said the surgeon will call you in the morning :( poor woody,so had to leave him again so sad.sorry im making this post a bit of a story!!!! Monday morning I get a call saying the breaks so bad cant save his leg needs amputation :( so they amputate his back leg Monday and put him on a drip as he hasn't eaten or drank since sat morn, luckily the best news we can pick him up Tuesday afternoon!!! its all been very traumatic hadn't stopped crying,at least I got it all out before he came home, but how we all missed him was so strange!!!Im so so happy tue my husband finished work at 3 so we drove up to get him, woody cried nearly all the way home for an hour,he was so happy to be home wagging his tail, had a drink and scoffed up some chicken!!! that's the first thing he had eaten since Saturdays breakfast, so today is Saturday a whole week since his accident, its his fourth day home and its getting easier, getting over the shock, yesterday woody had a poo and I was so happy as he hadn't had one for days!!!! I have been carrying him out for toilet breaks and he has a few wobbily hops about but mostly he has been resting, think hes been a bit spaced out on his tramadol,at this moment I am sat in bed with him laying beside me typing this feeling hopeful, thanks for reading and I do feel for all of you that have been through this and more with their beloved dogs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Wow what a story! I'm just hoppy to hear he's home and in the loving arms of his family. Keep him resting, spacing out is good (sometimes tramadol affects dogs the opposite way, so if he's calm on it that's a good sign, he's healing). Glad that he's made that first poo too! We ALL get excited over that one!!

Is this a crazy journey ir what?????

WOODY IS HOME!!! YAAAAAAAAAY! WOODY HAS POOPED! YAAAAAAAAAY! WOODY IS DRINKING AND EATING!!! YAAAAAAAAAY!

Yeah, the meds can make him a little whacky...but it's better than being in pain.

I know all this is so overwhelming and scary. We are here, okay? Woody is on the road to recovery, slowly but surely. Woody has to take things slowly right now and he seems to be doing just that. His mobilization will improve as he adapts.

Would LOVE to see a picture of this adorable little character!
