Wabs, here is your post so that hopefully more people will see it and be able to respond with suggestions:

I found this thread while searching for some answers about carboplatin side effects... Wabs had his first dose yesterday, then came home and pooped on the floor like he couldn't hold it. He also peed twice last night, once in the bed and once by the door -- but didn't cry to be let out, he just let it happen. He's drinking a *ton* more water and hasn't touched dinner or breakfast. I'm jealous of all you guys saying your pups had no side effects. Any suggestions for helping my guy perk back up? It's frustrating because he was finally back to his old self, energy- and appetite-wise, until the chemo started. crying

Hugs,

These are really unusual side effects.

My girl had zero side effects like most of us.

I would definitely call the oncologist and get his opinion asap as this is not what most of us experienced.

Remember you can always stop chemo if need be ...

Sending you a tight hug, sweetie, and cuddles to your cutie pie 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Thank you guys so much for chiming in (and fixing my thread!). I called the vet this morning — we're seeing an internist rather than an oncologist, but to-may-to, to-mah-to right now — and she said that it could be a side effect of the drug and to just give him more access to potty breaks. I took him out every two hours today, and each time, he excitedly got up, got "suited up" with his leash, and then stood on the porch and grinned at me. He didn't pee again until ~5pm, which is more on our usual schedule when I'd get home from work. Hoping that it was a one-off that first night, but we'll keep an extra close eye on him again this evening and call the vet again in the morning if things aren't improving.

Here's another pic of our handsome boy, since I know y'all like visuals: https://www.ins.....oxthehound

OMD he is so sweet!! Thanks for posting the pictures. I hope he continues to feel better. Hopefully these side effects are just temporary and you can continue to move forward.

Please keep us posted and let us know how he continues to do.

I am a little confused though, lol. Is his name Abnar? Apologies if I missed that!

LOVE, LOVE, LOOOOOOVE THAT PHOTO!!!   Such a handsome, stunningly handsome, boy!!  MORE!   We need more photos!!

Some dogs do have a rougher time with chemo.  As memtioned, one of the deciding  factors for most going with chemo,  is you can stop and side effects almost always clear up.

Some dogs do get diarrhea and, on ocassion, some wee issues pop up.  It may....or may not....be a red flag to proceed with caution .  Sometimes the dose needs to be adjusted lower. The fact that the symptoms  cleared up so quickly  is good.

Curious though.  This is not an Onco administering the chemo, but a regular Vet?  Is an Onco  providing  guidance on dosing, etc?

Glad he's  feeling better!!

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

PS....Took me a few times reading  "tomato" reference to get it!  🤐

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Great news Wabs is feeling much better ... phew ...

Maybe this was a one off and as Sally says perhaps it is just a case of adjusting the dosage.

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE the picture, your boy is irresistibly handsome 💓

And those ears 😍

He is sweeeeeeeeeeeet 💖

Keep posting more photos !

Hugs and cuddles 🐮💫✨🌟🌹
