Aaaaw thanks! Glad you enjoyed the read & Sandy's polo top way-cool

She does look rather scrummy in it! winker Bought her a harness today too with a handle on it to assist her in & out the car (although today she has shown that she has mastered that too now! Like the days with four paws!!)

Sandy means the absolute world to me! She's such a mummy's girl too...my fault as I spoil her with soooo much love, TLC & yummy treats in moderation.

Sooo...staples have been removed & her surgeon is very pleased!! She rocked the vets waiting room in her new attire too! heehee. She even sat up the whole car journey there. Laid down on the journey home as I guess all that standing & staple removal was too much. Back home to the sofa it is to snooze!

So the results...they came in last night & we discussed them today...they were non conclusive which means the tests could not determine which cancer type it is/was. This means a different type of test to run a dye like chemical through it to see under a microscope if it tells us...FINGERS CROSSED ITS NON AGGRESSIVE!!! Although the vet said to assume the aggressive as it is more common, & if it's not we can celebrate then! MORE WAITING!!!! crying

I have read a lot about green veg being cancer fighting along with turmeric...there is not scientific proven results & I discussed this with our vet who said healthy happy diet is always good but not to get carried away with all that is stated without scientific proof. Has anyone else read about this or tried it?

Awweee . . . I'm so happy you're having a good day. Don't let worry steal these sweet moments from you.

I absolutely loved her outfit. You're right, she really does rock the look!

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

Thanks Pam & Harmony...I'll post more pics of her hoodie soon too...she looks too cool heehee! way-cool

Okay so we thought the vet had removed ALL the staples...however I found two! DOH! Soooo back to the vets we went to have their nurse remove the final two & another hidden one under a scab...ALL gone now!! Sandy loved the fuss bless her. Two car journeys in one day & a good sniff at each...AND....SHE ATE HER BEDTIME TREATS this eve!!!!!! WHOOOOP WHOOOOP!! Sandy hasn't eaten these in weeks!!!! And she ate two meals today.clap Well done Sandy...I'm so happy tonight! Isn't it amazing how good simple things we used to take for granted, make us feel so relieved & content at times like these.

Well I think tomorrow we will try a stroll to the end of the road & back...the small exercise appears to be what motivates & creates positive results after. Vets behind this also so thats our mini plan. Time off work again now to enjoy this gorgeous pooch...& that I shall do. Watching that tail wag when I reach to stroke, massage, hug & tickle...times i never want to end. I find myself sitting here watching her lay on her back, legs up in the air & snoring contently...I can't help but smile...how did I feel so guilty before I ask myself...these are all times I would never have appreciated to their fullest before. Like you all say...live in the moment...we are now beginning to do that!!big-grin

Dawn what a pawsome day for you both! Whew! Bet that felt GREAT to get this part over with so you can move on. And I agree 110%; this amputation ordeal really teaches us how to appreciate all those things we used to take for granted (and sometimes even grumble about!). It's one of those gifts that we never imagine will come out of such a very upsetting situation, but they really do make our lives and our relationships with our animals so much more beautiful. Glad to hear you are discovering this.

Enjoy your first real outing together. Take things slow and remember there will be lots of time for more so even if you have to turn around after a couple of minutes, what counts is that you both did it!

NEWS ALERT!!!!!

SANDY RAN......WOW did she go!! She went into the garden, explored at the top of the garden which she hasn't done in weeks amongst those fun trees & fallen leaves, then I went indoors to get my cuppa, turned back round & vrooooom....there she was....RUNNING!!! After a neighbours kitty cat  mind that was running along the top of the fence/wall but there was no stopping her!! I thanked that cat soooo much as this brought happy tears to my eyes that I simply cannot begin to explain!!!

A magical moment - I didn't think I would see Sandy run again...but yet again she has proven me oh so wrong & again taught me that anything IS possible!!

Needless to say she is snoozing off that burnt off energy to recharge...as we do have a hopping time ahead for our first walks as a Tripaw.

Did anyone have any insight into this...

I have read a lot about green veg being cancer fighting along with turmeric…there is not scientific proven results & I discussed this with our vet who said healthy happy diet is always good but not to get carried away with all that is stated without scientific proof. Another option, there's on link on here...usually a banner at the bottom of the page, that will guide you to Dr. Dressler's Cancer Survival Guide Book....he had GREAT information about nutrition, supplements, etc.

Still grinning over here,!!!!!!! Wonderful update! Extra treats for Sandy!!

Go Sandy, go! That's awesome!!!!

About your ?...Dr. Dressler has information about cancer-fighting supplements, herbs and other natural approaches in his book, the Dog Cancer Survival Guide. For cancer therapy, he advocates for combining a blend of eastern and western modalities like turmeric and curcumin, along with traditional chemo & radiation, etc. However the problem with administering a single supplement like curcumin is that you would have to give it in massive doses for it to be effective, which isn't realistic. He advocates for using combo supplements that include things like curcumin, such as Apocaps.

Hi Sandy and Dawnie,

Yup, that cat is a rehab cat, but they can be devious by getting the dog running too fast too soon. Even with my kitty Mona I was encouraged to try to slow her down and work on building up her core and front leg muscle. The running is fun to see, Sandy is back!

My alternative (holistic, traditional chinese medicine, chiropractic) vet put Mona on Power Mushrooms to support her immune system. You can google or search this website to find out more about them.

As for the tumeric, I know research has found it's effective for arthritis inflammation. The dosage is a problem as there can be side effects from over-dosing. Also the tumeric from our kitchen or in capsules can stain. Maybe there's a safe extract.

Good luck in your research on this. Perhaps there's a holistic vet in your community?

Well there is no stopping Sandy this evening...she has snuck upstairs (something she was advised not to do until after Christmas to air on the side of caution as could be risky if she was fall as they often manage going up but not so well down)...however, Sandy being Sandy...she managed those stairs both ways as if it was second nature to her...I kinda was confident she perhaps would as she had managed them with her poorly leg, but was being careful and not allowing her until advised. But seeing as she was upstairs-when she was ready to after lounging about loving the free reign again haha. But she had to come down eventually...so she hopped down no troubles!! I stood in front to guide / catch & was about to place the harness on her to assist but nope..Sandy managed them unaided before I grabbed the harness. Even she wagged her tail as if to say...whoop whoop i'm smart! clapclapclapclap

She's sooo cheeky...love those cheeky eyes when caught sneaking up!

Sally I tried to get a video of her running earlier but was too late - I really want to capture this though! She had extra sausages this evening for this excitement. big-grin

Thanks Kerran I will ask the vet about those mushrooms - seen them online & the benefits look positive.

I need to get that book suggested above on Cancer survival  guide. I ordered the Without regrets book once I sourced a shop that had them in stock - must be a popular book!! Looking forward to receiving that.

I look back to day one in our journey & see that the answers I was seeking are so clear now...We know our fur babies & therefore know what perspective they take on their situation & we need to remember that...if there is a sign of hope, grasp it tight & run with it if that is what they would do, say or wish.

It is hard when feeling the way we do with our emotions clouding every thought we have to see those answers we need so quickly, but I can now finally say that i have NO REGRETS!!

And yes I am reading the No Regrets book!big-grin
