Otis is now a month out from his last chemo, and continues to have occasional, mild tummy issues.  The oncologist put him on Pepcid AC during round 2, and I find that I still have to give him one every 3 or 4 days.  It seems worse if his tummy gets empty.  Last night, for example, he woke me up with "micro-whimpers."  We got up and he ate 1/4 cut of kibble and then went out.  Then he slept like a baby.  And no, I really don't think he is playing me for a midnight snack.  He also coughs two or three times after he eats or drinks.  (And you all know what I am stressing out about now).  Anyone have similar experiences post-chemo?

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Have you tried Cerinia. Ty was prescribed that after his 1 st and only chemo treatment. Seemed to really help settle his tummy. Ty got a bit food picky after treatment too. And, yes, he did have me trained to make him scrambled eggs at 3 AM. That BTW, may be a good bedtime snack for Otis. Fairly filling, but not too heavy on his belly. Lori, Ty and gang

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

Too funny!   I would never get any sleep if Otis and Tess got used to scrambled eggs at 3:00 a.m.!   It's bad enough on the days when they think breakfast should be served at 4:00 a.m.   Actually, Otis has been answering the question himself - the tummy issues are noticeably less, I have only given him Pepcid twice since I posted this message.   He has also stopped coughing after eating.   He still does it sometimes when he drinks a lot of water very fast, but I definitely see improvement.

No, for Otis it is just minor indigestion and the coughing/gagging after eating.  Just not a problem he ever had prior to chemo.  We seem to have gotten to the other side of it - I think I was worrying a week too soon!

Now, I am being played.  For the last two nights, the family has loudly and insistently been asking for breakfast at 3:00 a.m.  How do I know I am being played?  The only family member not participating is Otis, who is curled up in bed with me, also trying to sleep through the ruckus.  So, either chemo tummy upset is contagious, or . . .
