If you've seen or followed my other posts, in my first post I mentioned how Rocco had a spindle cell tumor on his back right leg, and was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his front right.

Both Vets and the Oncologist suggested we amputate the front, since the tumor in the back is (was) very slow growing, we needed to treat the aggressive one first.

What we least expected to happen, happened. and here we are again devastated. confused. regretting our decision. I don't even know.

The tumor in the back has started growing now. Immediately after the amputation. I don't know if the surgery and stress triggered the growth or something. I don't know. and now he's hopping around on 2 legs. My dog is hopping around on 2 friggan left legs, defying gravity.

My heart hurts. What did we do? What do we do? Regretting everything. Trying to stay positive, hoping that its just a little bigger and he needs to adapt.

I just don't know anymore.

We took him back this morning to have the fentynol patch removed - the vet is absolutely floored that he is walking on 2 left legs.

Our Rocco is a very  special case, and next week when the staples are removed he is going to have a closer look at the tumor but he says it looks normal still - how can it be normal if Rocco is trying not to use it anymore???

For the one silver lining of the day - he says Rocco is healing super quick and super beautifully.

OKAY!!   WOW!!!

First take some much needed DEEP, SLOW BREATHS.....INHALE SLOWLY.....EXHALE SLOWLY.....B R E A T H E..... B R E A T H E...

Rocco ks DEFINITELY a ONE- OF- A -KIND- ROCK STAR! 🙂 🙂  What an incredibly strong and determined boy!!!

Since the tumor looks basically the same to the Vet, it certainly could be possible that not using that back leg is due to a muscle tweak, or sprain...somethi g like thst due to the change in his gait.  Just throwing that out there.

Is Rocco showing any signs of obvious pain with thst leg when put through some gentle motion?

Did the Vet offer any suggestions jn the meantime??  Did he check the leg out for any other possibilities?  Maybe knee issues, etc?

Do you have access to a mobile Rehab Vet?

Just thinking of things that may not be related to that tumor at all.

YOU ARE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE FOR YOUR ROCCO!!!!  YOU ARE GIVING HIM EVERY CHANCE KNOWN TO THE MEDICAL PROFESSION A D DOING WHAT'S BEST FOR ROCCO'S SITUATION!   And good ess knows Rocco has a very uniqur situation!!

Rocco absolutely astounds me with his courage and spunk!!!   Rocco clearly has no intention of giving in to the piece of crap disease.  We all can use him as our role  model.  BE MORE ROCCO!!

Keeping all paws crossed this can get resolved.

Sending you @ove and hugs

Woooah I am so sorry! That effing cancer is just a tricky demon!

OK, so YES that is a silver lining that he's doing so well. That means he has a strong immune system and overall level of health that gives him every chance at fighting disease. YAY for Rocco!

My guess is that there will be options for treating that back leg. Radiation therapy comes to mind, possible resection surgery, and I'm sure other treatments too. This is a unique case that needs out of the box thinking which I'm sure your vet is mulling over right now so that when you go back you'll have a plan for your sweet pup.

In the meantime, that is darn amazing that he's walking on two on the same side. I might try to minimize his movements so that he doesn't pull a muscle and end up in more pain. If you can keep him in a small area of your home that would be ideal I think.

Give your boy a smooch from us. We are thinking of you and hoping for some workable solutions from your vet. Keep us posteed.
