Chicken baby food! Why have I not thought of this yet? They said they gave her some today and she ate it. Hubby is picking some up on the way home. In the meantime, I was able to get her to eat watered down blended wet dog food + some ensure.

Mica,
I don't remember if I shared tis with you before, but I was in a similar situation with Tri-pug Maggie. She pretty much beat mast cell cancer, then developed oral melanoma. I know how devastating the second diagnosis is, for me it was worse than the first. Maggie did not tolerate pain meds well, pain was the deciding factor for me. I hope you can keep some calories in Roxy, and manage the pain as long as you can. Maggie wouldn't eat either, but she also had kidney issues.
Treasure each day and folly Roxy's lead. You will know what is right for her at the right time.

Good luck, Roxy!

Dotty is on a daily dose of metacam (probably for the rest of her life) and it has been transformative. I hope you can get Roxy comfortable enough to have some fun, which seems to be the best medicine for the whole family when you are dealing with such a big question mark over a deeply loved pet.

We are thinking of you and wish you all the best.

Paws croosed for baby chicken food becoming one of Roxy's favorite treats! Maybe you could make an ice cube version too.

Have you tried chilled watermelon chunks? I think I mentioned the Vitamin Gel stuff i a tube that Liz fot from GNC

The pred. should have an effect on the appetite by tomorrow or the next day. Now, it may increase panting, peeing and drinking, so don't be alarmed.

Roxie just wanted to check in on Roxy and send healing thoughts to her.  From me, too.  Hope things are improving for your girl.

Could it be that the prednisone and pain relief is working? Roxy went from only wanting to lick up some ensure and goats milk, to eating a bunch of blended, watered down dog food with a splash of Ensure. Yay Roxy!

She has also been acting more like herself for the last 2 days than she has in a couple of weeks.

Whatever works!

Do you put one of those little umbrellas in with the 'splash' of ensure? Maybe she would eat/drink more if it was more festive.

I'm very glad to hear that Roxy is having good days.

Wonderful news.  Keep eating it up Roxy.

Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury.  Her amp was on 10/1/12.  She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera.  We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.
