Hey Otis and Rhonda 🌹🐶

Now that's what I call GREAT news 🎉🎉 ... no, FANTASTIC news 😁

And yes, I agree with everybody else, our sweet tripawds can do whatever they like and we will be cheering madly 😄 regardless of it being them chewing the postman's leg ⚙️ ✉️ or storming through the butchers and stealing a whole leg of lamb 🍗

Keep being yourself Otis and show the world who's the boss here 😎

I'll be checking for updates as much as I can, gotta go to sleep now (3am🕰 here) 💤💤💤

Huge hug going your way, keep spoiling that gorgeous boy of yours Rhonda and give him tons and tons of tummy rubs and woof woofs from Eurydice 😘😘😘💕💞💤🐮

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)

Yep Otis gets spoiled even more now.   Also he is having adventures he never had before because of his attitude.  He goes to TUFTS and I wait in the waiting room while he gets Chemo and loved on.   He started PT swimming today.  He has never swam before. He was in the pool with 2 strangers and no issues.  He came home content and I think it's because he needs more mental and physical stimulation now that he can't run around as much as before.

He even got a nice massage in the pool during a rest period.  He will be going 3x/week.

Otis - 121 lbs pre amp - 114 lbs post amp and now 118 lb Great Dane - English Mastiff X.  Started limping on 12/24/16.  Diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 12/28/16 - amputation of front left leg on 1/6/17.  Stitches out and 1st round of Chemo on 1/19/17.   2nd round of Carboplatin on 2/10/17 - 3rd round on 3/2/2017.  4th round was scheduled for 3/22/17 - however due to low WBC postponed - 4th Chemo completed on 3/28/17.  Had breathing difficulties, stayed in Tufts ICU overnight.  Due for 2 more rounds of Chemo but we are opting to go with homeopathy with Dr. Loops instead.

Just wanted to give an update on my big brat.  Otis has now went swimming 3 times and seems to be starting to like it instead of just tolerating it. I hope he comes to love it.  He goes for his 3rd round of Chemo next week.

And yesterday was his 7 week Ampuversary! Wow the things he has went through and accomplished in 7 weeks is amazing.

We try to live minute by minute and not look ahead.   The present looks great and I know the future looks bleak if I think about it.   I had expected at least some side effects from Chemo, yet he hasn't had any at all.

He is more spoiled now to the point he thinks he can sneak up and lick food off our plates when we aren't paying attention!!  Caught him twice this week.  It's the long tongue lol.

I have not had time yet to type up info on his PT experience and photos and videos but I will have it ready soon.

Hope everyone's furbabies are doing well.

YAY Otis!!! SO glad to hear he is doing so well!! and learning to like swimming, too! Such a good kid!  We need Photos of that big handsome mug!!

I completely understand about living moment to moment. We try and enjoy every moment we have. Every slobbery morning kiss, every long-tongued food theft, every snoozy room-clearing poot, and every lazy yardwork saturday. Wouldn't trade a second of it. and, lets be honest, the future looks bleak for everyone, so no point trying to timeline it! One day at a time!

Kiss that flappy jowl face and give him a scratch from us.

Cheers,

Kat and Astro

Congrats on 7 weeks!  There is nothing wrong with being spoiled as long as you're not rotten.  So what is his favorite thing to steal?  Will Otis eat veggies if you give them to him?  Most male dogs I know will eat veggies cooked and raw but all the female dogs I know just stare at me like I'm crazy if I try to give them a green bean or a carrot.

Thank you for sharing this and all the smiles you gave me today.  It is wonderful to hear about Otis' triumphs.  I can't wait to see the photos and videos.

Many dogs don't have any side effects from chemo so try not to live waiting for that to happen.  Learning to live in the now is such an invaluable lesson - a very hard one too - but I think that is one of the things that bonds this community together.  We all know how hard it is and because of that, we celebrate every moment from the ordinary to extraordinary.

OTIS you are such a champion 🏆

And Rhonda you are doing such a fantastic job 🎖

I cannot tell you how THRILLED me and Eurydice are, hearing you threw his muzzle into the garbage 🗑 I just wish you'd made a video of that truly historic moment, what a life changer 🎉👍🏼

And the swimming is also fantastic news 🐙🐳

Eurydice had hydrotherapy too, she didn't really enjoy the first two but enjoyed the third (and final one) and it was hilarious as it truly looked like a cow had come for a swim 🏊🏻‍♀️ 🐮😂

I can picture his gigantic tongue 👅 licking your plates clean 🍽 alright 😜😛

Keep up the good work girl, you and your boy are doing brilliantly and you are right.

No point thinking about time ⏳and what is waiting for us in the end, living each day happily is the key here 🗝

Lots of love cuddles and slobber from me and miss cow 😘💕🐮💞

Otis is going for his 3rd round of Chemo tomorrow, (Thursday 3/2).  We'd really appreciate it if anyone can send out positive thoughts and vibes for him.   He'll need blood work first and I'm crossing my fingers that all is ok.

He has been peeing A LOT.  I am hoping it's a UTI or similar and not a kidney issue.

Thanks!

But of course you will be ok Otis !!!

After all you ARE Otis and you are as strong as a wild boar 🐗 right?

Can you tell you mommy not to worry too much? (you know how Mom's always worry because they love us too much 💘...)

Any temporary problems (like a UTI) they can hold your chemo until you're back into track ...

And of course I am keeping my paws crossed for you, my boy 🐮💕

Mom sends her love and asked me to say she is keeping her fingers crossed for you too and sending your Mom a big hug 😘😘
