That sounds like quite an improvement! Good for you, Otis!!! That he has stopped panting- even what with being at the Vet School- is excellent news! Hopefully he will continue with this and get some rest tonight! I know he will be sooooo happy to see you tomorrow. It really just sounds as if was a pain and/or chemo reaction which is going away.  Otis is one, big, brave, smart boy to know he just needed a few more eyes on him tonight. I, too, believe option two is reasonable. And, once had the onco call me at 4 a.m.- not because there was anything wrong- she just happened to be starting work and wanted to call and update me:) As Sally said, some are up early and others late! We at DaBears HQ are thinking of Otis and you guys! Hugs and PyrPaws all around!

I really hope Otis is feeling better today!! I'm sorry you're having a hard time now!!

The one thing I know regarding "color not being right" is that usually the mucuous membranes (i.e. gums and eyes) are checked for coloration. Usually, pale gums are bad because of low blood pressure, blood loss, all that. I would think that "too dark" by itself wouldn't be too worrisome IF that really is what they meant...but maybe i'm out of my league here.

hoping for BIG improvement and no more issues and one happy Otis when you pick him up!!!

Just got home from picking Otis up.  He is fine now and slept all the way home. Doc is a bit baffled on what actually happened.  Not sure if we will go forward with the 4th and 5th Chemo.   Doc said wait and see how he is for a week or so and then we will discuss it.

Thanks to everyone for the positive thoughts and vibes!

Otis - 121 lbs pre amp - 114 lbs post amp and now 118 lb Great Dane - English Mastiff X.  Started limping on 12/24/16.  Diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 12/28/16 - amputation of front left leg on 1/6/17.  Stitches out and 1st round of Chemo on 1/19/17.   2nd round of Carboplatin on 2/10/17 - 3rd round on 3/2/2017.  4th round was scheduled for 3/22/17 - however due to low WBC postponed - 4th Chemo completed on 3/28/17.  Had breathing difficulties, stayed in Tufts ICU overnight.  Due for 2 more rounds of Chemo but we are opting to go with homeopathy with Dr. Loops instead.

OOOOMMMMDDDD!!!! I was soooooo scared when we didnt hear from you!!! More like PETRIFIED!!

I'm sooooo relieved, right along with everyone here!! 🙂 🙂 Checking since this morning and starting to think "no news is not good news".

SPECTACULAR NEWS 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 I bet Otis is sooooo happy to be home!!! I know you are! I know we are!!!

Yeah, definitely think long and hard about pursuing chemo any further. Just seems like too much of a coincidence. Maybe not.

Whew! Really glad to hear that he's home and all is well. It's just so crazy when things like this happen and nobody has answers. But at least he's well again and back with the pack. That's all that matters. YAY OTIS!

How is OOOOOTTTTTISSSSSSS?!? So glad to hear he stopped the rapid breathing. Why were his vets baffled and what was there best guess? Asking for EmmaRose DaBear who has had episodes like that...

The Oncologist did not have a clear reason for his respiratory distress. Either chemo reaction, aspiration of a treat or anxiety.  I think it was the chemo and am looking into homeopathy instead.  This was his 4th Chemo and they wanted to do 6.

Has anyone here tried natural ways to keep lung mets away?

Otis is doing great since we picked him up.

Well if Otis had 4 chemos, then you can call it done and feel good about it since the standard is anywhere between four and six. No recent studies prove either one works better. Glad he's still doing well!

You bet. Click on the link for metronomics and you'll find posts scattered throughout that take you to articles about natural paths for dealing with lung mets.

I have been off the site for a few weeks and just read about your scare. So sorry you and Otis had to go through that and so glad he is feeling better.
