My dog too has had a mysterious disappearing tumour. He had his amputation of a back leg due to Osteosarcoma in June 2014. We didn't opt for chemo or any other treatment. In December 2014 a very rapidly growing hard lump appeared on his side. We had this biopsied and it was confirmed as a histiocytic sarcoma, another aggressive cancer. At that time his lung xray looked clear, but an ultrasound suggested that the cancer was already in his spleen and probably liver. It was decided that he wouldn't live long enough to recover from surgery to remove the lump on his side, so we took him home. The lump continued to grow daily, and reached the size of about a grapefruit, then...... started to shrink. The only med he was on at that time was a low dose of NSAID. The vets have no explanation is to why it shrunk or why he is still around. We are hoping he will make it to June to see out his 2 year ampuversary, but every extra day is truly a blessing.

Corinne ~

That's amazing!  What low-dose NSAID has he been on?  Murphy had his amputation 3 years ago due to histiocytic sarcoma and is still doing well.  They thought that it had metastasized to his left shoulder blade, but that lump hasn't grown any.  He does have a couple various lumps on him, but at this point we're not doing any treatment.

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

Hi Donne - three years, excellent! Kaos has been taking Carprieve. Not sure if that is what made any difference or coincidence.
