Dang I was hoping Dr. Loops had some better news. I'm so sorry. Just Love that boy up and soak in every moment. I know it's so hard to be strong, but as we had to keep reminding ourselves during this part of the journey, there will be plenty of time for tears later. It's these times that we can choose to mourn in the present, or wait until later. Since today's a gift, I say unwrap it!  For now follow Marshall's lead, he'll show you how.

If you would like me to post photos for you I'm more than happy to do that, just PM me.

{{{hugs}}}

I so appreciate all of you. Marshall is currently out on a walk with his boy and Dad. He is an amazing dog. On March 9 his cousin who is will be 9 weeks old is coming to join our crazy family. Marshall LOVES other dogs so I'm excited for him to have another to play with. I'm hoping that it will perk him up even more with a new aspect of fun. Marshall's breeder is a special lady. She and I have gotten very close since we got Marshall even though I have never met her in person she is like family. She is giving us this puppy bc she feels so bad about Marshall getting this awful disease. I never imagined having another dog so soon especially since we have a 15 year old dog with dementia also. I think a puppy is just what we all need to bring some chaos and silliness.

Awww, Marshall looks SO happy! He's getting to play with his boy in the snow and his tail is just wagging away! I love Rene's expression that today is a gift. Its hard to be strong but you guys are giving Marshall the greatest gift of all, he's getting to be a dog who is loved to pieces and IT SHOWS!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Thanks for sharing that GREAT video! What a sacred treasure!

Yes, we are constantly trying to redefine "quality" for our dogs and cats as new hurdles are thrown in their path. The reality is that our dogs and cats really MAKE quality happen for them on their own terms and in their own way! They just DO quality!

..Marshall is definitely doing quality in this video!! I'm sure all the bous were tired after this great work out!

Seding love and hugs..and a standing ovation to all!

Thanks everyone. My 7 1/2 year old son is having a really hard time. Does anyone with children around this age have any tips to easing the pain. They are best buddies.
I wonder why the eye thing happens. His Vet thinks it's edema and that his lymph nodes aren't draining. It's so hard to see him going downhill so fast

When the time comes there is a great book called Dog Heaven from Cynthia Rylant. My friend gave it to my sons this week (8 and 10 years old) after Lily passed away on Monday and it was helpful for them to think about where Lily is now. It opened up some great conversation.

For my boys we focused on making the most of our time together with Lily. We took lots of pictures, had lots of laughs and gave lots of love. Praying for you and your family! I posted on your other thread "is it time". I know how hard this time is. Know that we are all here with you and know EXACTLY how you feel. Big hugs to you and your family.

Also, my girls only symptoms when the cancer got to her lungs were bloodshot eyes with some goop. Our doc said it was because of all the inflammation.

Thinking of you.  Having just gone through this only 2 months ago to the day, I can tell you it is not easy.  My Golden Boy, Eddy, had eye issues, too, toward the end of his battle with Osteosarcoma.  His eyes were really goopy and had a lot of discharge.  Our vet initially thought he had allergies or an eye infection, but at his last oncology appointment, the oncologist actually thought it might be more brain related....he had also suffered a seizure a couple of days earlier, all pointing to the possibility that the cancer had spread to his brain.

I am so sorry you are going through this.  Please know that you and Marshall are in my thoughts and prayers.  If there is ANYTHING I can do for you, please don't hesitate to contact me.  Praying for all of you,  Betsy and Angel Eddy <3

Betsy Golden and Angel, Eddy.  Eddy was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-23-14, had a left rear amputation 8-07-14, had 3 rounds of carboplatin chemotherapy,  a small lung met was discovered in October, had 2 rounds of doxorubicin, and unfortunately more lung mets were discovered.  Eddy fought cancer valiantly and went to the Rainbow Bridge 1-6-15, at the age of 7 years and 359 days, just six days short of his 8th birthday.   Best Dog, Ever....you will never be forgotten.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. This is so hard seeing him like this and knowing that he's not going to recover. My mind is spinning and I'm trying to make sense of it all.

So sorry to hear that Marshall is not feeling well.  My thoughts and prayers and with you and your family.

hugs,

Daniela & Johnnie

Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet.   Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues.   Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle.  October 17:  started having seizures.  Taking fenobarbital for seizures.  April 18: started prednisone.
