thanks for all the well wishes!!  I just talked to the hospital and the tech said she's doing okay.  Had became a little anxious so they gave her more anti-anxiety meds and she's calm now.  She has pee'd already but hasn't eaten yet.  The tech said she will try again at 10.  They've examined her incision and all looks good, she doesn't seem painful and she's now resting comfortably.  Yay!  I know this is just the first challenge but it's the biggest I think 🙂  I miss her so much but know she's much better off there where they can take care of her.  Her doggie brother misses her too.  

Hello everyone!  So sorry it took all day for me to post an update.  I was stuck in a meeting at work and was only able to exit to talk to the vet (PRIORITIES!!).  This morning the dr. said she was doing really well and was getting up/standing great for a dog her size.  She still had not eaten but was getting iv fluids. He told me this morning that he wasn't ready to say whether she could come home today or not - he was concerned about some edema (which he said was to be expected) and the fact that she would not "posture" to pee.  She just pees while she's standing or sitting or whatever.  So I called again this afternoon and spoke to the nurse who was caring for her.  The edema was getting worse so they are ice packing it 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off.  It's spreading up into her neck so they wanted to keep her another night.  I'm okay with that - if that's what is best for her.  She still won't eat anything but this doesn't surprise me as she is quite the creature of habit and I'm sure not comfortable there.  She went for THREE WALKS OUTSIDE TODAY!!!  The nurse said she tires quickly but is doing great! Still won't pee outside though.  I'm sure it's because she is scared, because she is literally the cleanest dog I've ever had.  She NEVER has accidents.  I will find out tomorrow morning when I can get her - they said probably about 9 a.m.  She's not in any discomfort and is sleeping well there.  They are still giving her the tranquilizers though because she is very anxious.  My concern (besides the edema) is that her tummy is going to be upset with all the meds and no food.  I thought of going over there and trying to feed her but I'm afraid that will just upset her when she can't leave with me.  So I sit here worrying about her but happy that the doctor thinks she is doing very well overall.  She is getting around which is the biggest hurdle in my mind. I think the other stuff will all be overcome with a little time.  Thank you all for your well wishes and good vibes for Mads.  I will keep you posted and I'm sure will be asking questions as soon as we get home.  How am I going to get her in the car?  That's my newest worry lol.
