been here @ong enough to know "statistics" really don't mean much around here..good or bad.

I'm really glad you're consulting with a Holistic Vet and following up with some "alternative" treatments. I know many here feel like acupuncture is beneficial on many levels.

Metronomics have been used here a lot too. Jerry used them! Another option to check out is Lukeran...Lurekeran...Lukren.... Of course I'm not spelling it right. If I recall, itsw along the lines of Metronomics.

THE best treatment is to continue to Be More Dog !!! BE MORE DIOR!!! This stupid piece of crap disease can be beaten on many different levels! . To not let it rob you of your time together with Dior....to not let anything interfere with your time together...to not worry about your tomorrows while you have your todays...these are all ways to stick it to this piece of crap!!!

I can only add this, Happy Hannah's "symptons" were very, very gradulal. Yes, tiredness was one of them, but it certainly didn't happen overnight...And it certainly wasn't painful. Even when her breathing pattern became more noticeable, meds seemed to relieve that for awhile.

Keep us informed on the suggestions you gain from your consultation. There are a lot of good options and combinations that Holistic Vets consider that mainstream Vets don't.

Now give that beautiful girl a smooch for us and watch her tail wag!! All is well and Dior's world and that's all that matters!!

Love!

Hey guys!

So a lot has changed in the last two weeks. Dior had a very hard week last week some diarrhea and sleeplessness. Come to find out she had a fever. We took her in and she got fluids and meds and has looked like a new dog the past 4-5 days. It is so amazing to see her bouncing around again. My mom was here to help, which was great! I am posting today because I have decided to move back to the west coast with my mom! We are going to leave in about 3 weeks but I wanted to reach out to my tripawd family and see if anyone had vet recommendations.

The west coast is a big place, could you narrow it down a little big-grin

Glad to hear some TLC got Dior hopping again!

I'm late to the paw-ty, as usual. I LOVE YOUR DOG! Oh my gosh! SO big and beautiful!

Sorry to hear Palladia hasn't helped. My Izzy (a pipsqueak by comparison at 58ish pounds) has had a lot of success with Palladia but for Mast Cell disease on one of her hind feet. She's about 13 months post amp for OSA and fortunately, hasn't seen lung mets. *knock on wood*

We've certainly had our fair share of troubles and challenges between the MCT on her right hind foot and a ruptured ligament in her left hind knee but I'm so thankful for every extra second I've had with my girl. Keep us posted on your beautiful baby and best of luck with the move!

xoxo,

Amy & Izzy

Welcome to Southern CA! Sadly I live in LA so I don't have any recommendations for a vet in Orange County but I do know we had a few Tripawds from down there. Hopefully they will weigh in on this. Or perhaps Karen will know (she's up north but close with the Orange County group that travels up north to party).

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Great news!  Glad she is feeling better!  And I envy you - sounds like there are a lot more Tripawd pawties on the West Coast!

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Yay Dior!

Yes we know of quite a few great vets in Orange County. Are you looking for a specialist or general practice vet or both? And in South Orange County or Northern areas? It's such a big place.

Eider was not approved for the Rapamycin Trial due to original tumor location, but we asked to try it anyways.  Longterm, I have no idea if it will help, but I just posted about how great he seems to be feeling.

Maybe your vet will consider prescribing it outside of trial.  It is costing us $80/month approximately.  I would guess maybe double for your lady.

Good luck with moving!  We went NY to AL earlier this year.  Hooray for warm weather!
