Need to ask my oncologist,  but for those of you who have dogs that have received zoledronate. ..

How long after chemotherapy has zoledronate continued to be given?

I will be using zoledronate monthly... for the life of simon..  ( my pet insurance covers this at 90%)  Besides beefing up the bone,,, hopefully,  there is some mention that zolenronate might have some anti cancer properties.. Simon loves the ride to the vet.. leaves happy.. very little stress on his end..  This is done at a specialty vet, so the care is often a step up from the local vet.. ie the tech doing the work are highly skilled  etc..

Thanks Luke. Unfortunately, Spirit has pretty bad soreness for at least a week after administration. We have tried increasing pain meds, acupuncture the day before,  adding a muscle relaxant,  to no avail. She is sailing through chemo. She has been getting zoledronate , we are trying pamidronate next time to see if she fares any better.

It got to the point last time that she needed help getting up and needed a sling for a day or so ..Which doesn't sound that bad....except this is what she looks like otherwise

I didnt know of side effects from zoledronate...  I know Simon had none... are you sure this is where the pain came  from?  ie the zoledronate?

Yes. It is  not  commonly seen but is a known side effect in humans. After the first administration, I thought it was a coincidence. But the timing of her symptoms after administration is the same each time.
