Jerry, do you prefer hot or cold treatments?

My people believe I like the heat treatments better. At least I don't fidget as much when they apply the hot compress. As long as they don't overheat it! Make sure it is just warm to the touch. if it feels too hot, just let it cool down a couple minutes. (Overheating can also damage the gel. Be sure to follow the instructions for using the hot/cold pack.)

FYI:
My doctor suggested that if the affected area feels warm, to use a cold compress instead of heat. They have done that a couple times after I have overdone it running around.

Yes Maxwelll my staples are out and you were right - I am doing better! Thanks for asking.

In fact - great news...I finally let out my "happy howl" before my short morning hop yesterday. This brought a tear to moms eye as she had not heard it in a while ( I am usually very vocal). I also chewed on my ball for a minute (up from zero). I even ate all of my food for the first time since the surgery. We are glad we postponed chemo for a couple of weeks because I'm pretty sure that I would not be feeling this good right now. We are going to the mountains for 4th of July weekend vacation which should be a nice break, then we will come back home and start chemo. I hope that there are no side effects as I have such a sensitive stomach!

So far my hip dysplasia does not seem to be an issue. Thanks for the tips on the hot compress Jerry. So far we have not needed it as I seem to be doing fine after my short hops up and down the block.

Stay Hoppy,

Max C

Great news Max - I think you were right to delay the chemo - you need a bit of time off to build yourself up again - get eating and feeling better in yourself.

Enjoy your holiday Cool

We have rented a cabin near Lake Arrowhead which is a small lake in the San Bernardino mountains near our home in Southern Cal. We have been going there for the 4th for a few years as I don't like the noisy fireworks that occur near my house! I love to swim in the lake and take hikes. I guess the hikes will be a quite bit shorter this year. I have been practicing by doing a hop around the block the last few days. It is a short block and I am doing fine and seem to be getting stronger. Jerry said it was a loooong time before he went around the block. I am wondering if a rear amp may not be quite so tiring? We are taking it real easy of course as we definitely don't want to aggrevate anything in the other leg!

You said it. We are really glad that we did not start yet, we just were not ready. We still are working on getting rid of runny poops! I imagine chemo would not help with that. Also having the opportunity to go on a fun trip before paw will be great. Somehow mom and dad will have to keep me from going too crazy as I get very excited on trips!

Oooh, what a neat way to escape those silly fireworks!

I know exactly where Lake Arrowhead is, as my Grandma and Grandpa live in Whittier. We will be there for the holidays this year, so let's you and me have a pawty!

Take it easy up there in the woods. Try getting some swimming in, it's soooo good for you! Have a hoppy 4th!

Hey Jerry - a holiday pawty sounds great to me! I live about 20 miles from Whittier in Costa Mesa...where they allow personal fireworks...those noisy things make me crazy and I hide under tables. Instead, I will be listening to birds and chipmonks in the forest. Just need to remember to take it easy when I see my first squirrel!

We had a few relatives over today and I was howling like mad when they arrived. Its wonderful to feel good again! Dad was bummed he didn't get the video camera fast enough. We will try and get it next time and maybe some shots of me swimming.

Cheers and hoppy 4th to you too,

Max

Hey everyone, I am doing so good we just had to make a video of me hopping and howling! Everybody is amazed that I am doing so good after just 19 days!!

Takes a minute to download. Maybe Jerry can show me how to set up video streaming!

My people say it's not technically "streaming" but we tried embedding your video from your Windows Live link above and it didn't play. That's Windoze for ya! Wink

So, we took the liberty of uploading it to my YouTube channel ...

That's how we embed the movies in my blog posts and playlists on my Videos page. This way people don't have to download the file and try to get it to play.

You're looking good Max! And you've got a pretty good howl. Just watch out for those backing up cars.

Thanks Jerry that video link works great! We always thought YouTube was streaming, but looked it up to determine the correct term could be "progressive downloading". The video plays instantly and that is what is cool whatever you call it.

Yes I will be careful with the backing up cars. This is the first time I have been off leash out front (to get the video). Mom was the one driving the car and she knew I was lurking back there because I kept pestering her to go for a ride too!

Even after all the excitement yesterday I am still wanting my short morning walk again today...so gotta go!

You look great Max! I didn't actually hear your howl (I have the sound off because my dogs would all be looking for the howling dog - haha) but I 'saw' the howl and it looked very howly and happy indeed!!

Yes Darcy, I am pretty happy and can't wait to go to the mountains in a couple of days. My pawrents are going to need to keep me somewhat restrained because I get excited and love to run all over the place as you can see! I used to wear myself out even with 4 good legs! We have been viewing some of Jerry's videos of his trips in the mountains and snow etc. (there are so many!) He looks like he is having loads of fun as a tripawd too.
