I think the biopsy was much more painful than the surgery if you can believe that.

We have heard that too, it's why a lot of times doctors recommend just skipping it if it appears that OS is obviously there. I didn't have a biopsy.

Good to hear you're doing well! Take it easy and pace yourself buddy, you'll do fine.

Welcome home Max C 🙂 It's great to be home isn't it? Just keep resting up and taking it easy for the next couple weeks...let mom know that if she has any questions or concerns, we are here for her and for you and so is your doctor.

Mom says that you're very handsome - I think we kinda look alike 😉

Who is Adam? He is adorable!!!

Hi Max C,

Max from Scotland here - (now Maxwell) - there must have been another Max!!! Confusing huh?

You're looking great - hope all goes well - definitely made the right decision, we did have a slump after the first few days (as you know) but just stay positive.

You're a handsome lad - A retriever crossed with a shepherd - a good mix!

I love the picture Max C - you're looking great 🙂

Mom will upload some pictures tomorrow, the battery on her camera is dead and she has a lot of errands to run today (and she'll get a new battery), so we'll post some up tomorrow (hopefully she can figure it out...)

My front right leg was amputated and from what i was told, you'll have an easier time getting around (you won't hop as much as I have to), but the initial recovery is a bit more trying with figuring out the whole potty thing. We're smart and we adjust - just takes a little time. Keep us posted!

You're so lucky to have a little brother and one as cute as Adam is! I bet you have so much fun with him - mom and dad have their hands full huh? 🙂

Lots of love to you all -

Have a great weekend~

Hi Max(well),

Sorry about that I had some weird problems too - I think the other registered Max is me. Jerry and I decided to leave it because I had some posts under "Max" before changing to "Max C". Now we should be good to go!

Thanks for the compliment, I know we made the right decision. I am already eating much better and you can see the happiness returning to my face. I am still very restless at night and panting. My pawrents are not sure if it is pain or the medication. We are still experimenting on how many pain pills to use. Otherwise I am doing pretty good.

Cheers,

Max C

Hi Zeus,

Thanks for the compliments. Looking forward to seeing your pics! (good luck with that...it took me a while to figure it out)

I am getting around very well. Still a little timid around the kitchen floor even though I seem to do pretty good there too. The potty thing is coming along, but mom and dad sometimes get to clean me up afterwards cause I can't squat very well - yuk! No big deal 🙂

You are so right about mom and dad having their hands full with me and my little brother!

Cheers,

Max C

Hello Max Z,
Wow looks like a speedy recovery ,so far so good!  There are alot of great supplements out there to help move things along esp with mobility issues. Surgery takes awhile for the body to fully heal. .. just something to look into. I know it truly helped my Buster bounce back sooner...
PS great pic!s

Hi Kim and Buster,

Yes so far so good! Thanks for the advice. Mom has already changed my diet and has been investigating supplements and such as you suggest. Not sure what she has decided yet. Hopefully we can get this goofy drain tube out tomorrow...

Hi all,

I got my drain tube out yesterday and everything is doing fine. I was hoppy to go to the doctor and get out of the house, but have been pretty lazy and mopey since then. I am also not eating much or sleeping well at night. We know from reading all of the posts that this is to be expected and hopefully we should be more energetic and back to normal soon.

Taking it slow and easy,

Max C

Hi Max C - I didn't sleep all that well until I got the bandage off and the stitches out - 2 weeks post op. I didn't have much trouble eating though, but there were surely times that Mom had to bring my bowl to me on the couch because I didn't feel like getting up and navigating the floors. We had major surgery, so rest and relaxation is important...try to eat ok?

We love ya...

Keep us posted ~

Food tip - try cat food (our vet's recommendation) much more scent/appetite - arousing. Smelly is as smelly does.

All the best,

Love

Hey Max, sounds like you're doing fine to me, (only 1 week post op) - it will take time, you've had a major operation, get plenty of rest ...   we're thinking of you and hoping you're feeling better soon... (Your spirits will really lift when those staples come out pal.)

Your friend in Scotland,

Maxwell

Hey Max, you're on the right track. One paw at a time and you'll be back to normal soon. Try not to overdo it.

Hi all,

Dad has shortened my walks as Jerry suggested to just go down the block far enough to do my business. I really love any walk no matter how far. It makes me happy, but I am still not my normal self. Stilll not eating regularly and I won't chew on my toys. Mom and dad are still waiting for my "happy howl" which used to be quite common. At least there is an occasional tail wag!

Maybe I will feel better after getting the staples out today as Maxwell suggests. We were supposed to start chemo treatements today also, but we talked to the doctor and decided to postpone it at least until I am eating better.

On a side note, we received "Bella's Pain Pack" in the mail from Jerry's recommendation. Jerry, do you prefer hot or cold treatments?

Thanks,

Max
