I wanted to share some exciting news with everyone, especially all of the newbies that feel like there is no hope with osteosarcoma.

Today is Charley's 4 YEAR Ampuversary!  I can’t believe that it has been almost a year (11/8/13) since his metastatic OS tumor was removed.  Charley is thriving and doing great!

I stayed up late last night to finish his special blog post for his special day.  There are a bunch of pictures from Charley's surprise beach vacation!  Click the link below to go to his blog:

Wow, handsome Charley boy, you are definitely one of my heroes here in this fantastic community !! There is NOTHING I love more, than to hear and amazing pup such as yourself, kicking the crap out of the "very ugly c" ........and 4 years is so awesome, it brings me to tears, but happy tears.

Ellen, the pictures posted on Charley's blog are absolutely beautiful, Charley is one very lucky pup to have you and your family for his human family....and I also can without a doubt feel the ultimate love you have for him......so joyful.

Happy 4 years, Charley, and may you have many, many more happy everythings ahead....... !!

Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.

Thank you to everyone!!!  I'm so happy that Charley can give the gift of hope to others!  I remember that day 4 years ago when we got the dreaded news....I was devastated that my 2-1/2 year old baby boy was not going to make it to his 3rd birthday.  It felt like I was living in a nightmare.  Charley was not given much hope but I didn't believe that.  I knew we had to try to fight this beast!

One year ago, we were living the nightmare again.  At Charley's 3 year post amputation onco visit, the onco found the metastatic OS tumor under his amp scar and the surgeon thought his entire abdomen was full of cancer (she felt hardened tissue deep which was actually scarring from his amputation).  They wouldn't do surgery until we did a CT-scan to confirm he was met free (I think to prove surgery would be useless since they thought he was full of cancer), but again Charley proved everyone wrong.  The results showed no other mets in any of his organs!

I am so thankful for the precious time and miracles that we have been given with Charley, but cancer is always in the back of my mind.  Charley's next met check is in 2 weeks on 11/13/14.  I am nervous and anxious every time we see the onco and they take Charley back for x-rays, knowing that we can receive devastating news anytime....so, everyday I try to "Be More Dog " and live in the moment and be "present" with Charley and everyone I come in contact with.  After all, there are no guarantees of tomorrow for any of us!

Love, hugs, and chocolate Labby kisses,

Ellen and Charley xoxo

Congratulations on this benchmark, Charley !  These dates have to be very celebrated.

As Sally said, you are a gift of hope for all of us that are in this battle together with our pups.

Good luck with your x-rays.  I know it is always a tense moment.
