Oh I am so, so sorry. My last dog had seizures caused by brain cancer and I know how distressing they are to watch and how powerless they can make you feel. But you are not powerless, you have done everything possible to ensure that Gabbar is comfortable and not in pain. He is surrounded by love, as he always has been. I very much hope that your wife can get back, but she is in Gabbar's heart in any case, just as he is in yours and always will be.

Sending love and strength and boundless hugs. I'm just so terribly sorry.

I am so crushed for you and for Gabbar and his furry sister and for Mom who is trying to make it back from traveling to be with him.  I really hope that happens, but try to remember, Gabbar is NOT this moment in time.  His life is not this moment - it is not about the end.  It will be anguishing to lose him whether you are all at his side or not so if it somehow does not happen, please concentrate on the happiness of a shared life and years before this sad turn of events.

Sending love and comfort - sending Gabbar peaceful thoughts.  You have been the very best boy, Gabbar.  Your family could not love you more and you have brought such joy their lives.

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

I am so sorry you are here ... Shelby had seizures ... the cancer had gone to her brain so I know how you are feeling and how utterly terrifying it is to witness that. My heart is with you and sending you love and strength.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

About 3 hours ago, Gabbar passed on to heaven. He was so strong through it all. After he became unconscious and the breathing stabilized stopping the seizures, it just slowed down little by little every minute until a last few minutes where his body started finding it difficult to breathe. And then he stopped. His grandparents and I were with him till the very last moment. Unfortunately his mom couldn't be by his side. She's flying back in the morning.

We've kept him in cold storage at the Bombay SPCA. We'll be cremating him there tomorrow afternoon once his mom gets back and can see him one last time.

He fought. He fought hard. And even with all that he went through, he didn't want to put us through the ordeal of having to take the decision to end his life. He went on his own terms. And in the 8 years and 3 months of his life, he's made every single person who's known him a better human being.

Run free, brave Gabbar, gentle warrior. You touched us all with your courage, your smile, your indefatigable tail, and we grieve together with your family at this sudden, brutal loss.

Sending love and strength to you, Vijay, to your wife, to sweet Suzy and all of Gabbar's family and friends.

I'm so so sorry for your loss of that beautiful Gabbar.  What a mighty Warrior.  He was surrounded by your love and was able to leave on his terms.  We often say here that loving them enough to let them go is our last gift we can give them.  How remarkable that Gabbar was able to give you that special last gift and spare you that last hardest decision.  Know your special warrior was greeted by all our Angels at the bridge and now runs free and whole once again where he'll be sending down healing light to shine on all his loved ones.  Thinking of all of you with peace and love at this hardest of times.

Ohhhhh Gabbar, I'm so sad to come back here and read that you are now an angel. It happened so fast! I'm just at a loss for words. My heart is heavy, you brought so much joy to all of us here, we will miss you tremendously. I can't believe it.

Vijay, please don't ever forget that you touched us all here with the devotion and care you gave to sweet Gabbar. His story is one that will last forever and go on to inspire others facing this journey. We've never had such an active member based in India and you, your wife and sweet Angel Gabbar have left pawprints on the collective heart of the Tripawds Nation.

You know that once you join here you are part of our family- so as family we mourn your loss with you and hope that the collective strength of the Tripawd Nation can help easy your grief just a little.

You and your family are always welcome here, if it helps you at all we would love to hear more about Gabbar's life.

I'm so very, very sorry to read this.

Gabbar, like our Harmony, knew that you were conflicted and took the decision out of your hands. Isn't it moving that the compassion we feel, when we most need it, comes from the very source of our despair? Though my heart breaks for you, it gives me warm fuzzies to know that Gabbar was so dedicated to you and your pack that he gave to you the gift of release?

As the last chapter of Gabbar ends, know that he's already playing ball with you in heaven since time doesn't exist there. In fact we're all there playing, picnicking, laughing and loving.

Peace to you and your pack,

pam

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.
