Thought i'd check in again to let you know how things are going with Elsa

When Elsa was at the vets he gave her an anti inflammatory injection and the next morning she was keen for her walk and literally dragged us up the road!  As she was so keen to be out after being so hesitant to walk far, we let her do her 'usual' walk.  We felt hopeful that she'd turned a corner laughing

However, this morning she didn't want to walk too far again and our spirits sank. sad

Did we walk her too far yesterday, causing her discomfort?   She's having an anti inflammatory in the morning with her breakfast but this is after our walk.  I'm thinking that we should really limit her walks to the bare minimum, even if she should want to go further to give her a chance to heal..... Stefano did say just short walks.

Got to speak to the vet again on Monday to let him know how she is - here's hoping we see some improvement by then.  Sally - could I ask how long it took before you saw an improvement with Merry Myrtle when she had her anti inflams, please?  I'm hoping that i'm just being far too impatient (as is my nature!)

That apart, Elsa's still got a fabulous appetite and there's no real change in her personality - still being al little minx!

Your postings have kept me going - just reading back through them when i'm feeling down and full of despair gives me hope and makes me feel positive again.  Thank you! kiss

Virginia

I think this is a real good sign! Clearly the anti-inflammatory had a positive effect! I don't think if it was anything "bad" she would jave shown such instant improvement at all. And yes, Elsa felt to much better that she most likely overdid it! I would limit her walks to short potty breaks for now. And remember too, she is also recovering from that corn, even if it isn't visible anymore. That's probably still messing with her gait some still.

Myrtle jas had so many various strains, sprains, etc., it's hard to remember what healed faster than others. I do know that on different occasions her limp wou@d show some improvement, only to overdo it again. One of her first "whatevers" (pulled muscle, torn ligament, never sure exactly the cause), took about thirty days if I recall.

Yeah, patience is pretty rare around here! We all work very, very to not waste precious time worrying. It's a battle for all.of us. The fact that Elsa feels good, is acting like herself, eating, etc., YAAAAAAAAAY FOR ELSA!!
She's a very smart girl to not want to walk as much today if she overdid it yesterday.

Use Elsa has your coach. She's feeling good....she's happy...and she sure isn't worrying about a thing!!

The fact that Elsa showed initial improvement with the anti-inflam meds is really good news!!!  It is so easy for them to overdo the minute they feel better.  Muscle or ligament damage (if this is what has happened to Elsa) can take many days, even weeks depending on the severity, to heal.  Keeping activity level low is important until you find out for sure what is going on and what will be needed to get it under control.  Gentle hugs to your Elsa.
