Congratulations, Tracy and Bailey!  You have fought a long and hard battle and deserve to celebrate.  We have just finished round 2 of carbo and hope to reach your mark.

all the best,

Daniela & Johnnie

Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet.   Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues.   Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle.  October 17:  started having seizures.  Taking fenobarbital for seizures.  April 18: started prednisone.

OK, BAILEY IS A LITTLE SHITHEAD (OR BIG!)

We are playing let's not eat again... no people food no nothing.... here is a picture of her peeking over my bed at me sitting by her raised feeder trying to coax her to come over to see what was there... I never make her come sometimes she growls and pounces then if I go into our bathroom and turn on the water and ignore her she will shovel her food... I go put it back and then I go back into the bathroom and she will eat her food...

BUT... we are back to not anting chicken breast!  Yogurt it was.

You would all laugh if you seen how many bags of kibble I have and I try two foods in different bowls side by side and see which one she will eat if any... such a challenge, I guess she will eat something eventually...

She is actually peeking over my pencil post bed with her feet on the floor and when I look at her she drops... I have a pencil post bed so it sits high... it's funny but I was ready with my phone today!

Here we go again... the pictures were taken by my phone so a little grainy.  She's so cute even if I say so myself...  :)

Hi Tracy and Bailey! thanks for sharing the photos.  She is very cute - not only through mom's eyes.

Fortunately my Johnnie boy is not a picky eater, but even so there was one day that nothing was appealing to him.  My S.O.S. is the canned "dog foie gras" -  Royal Canin Recovery.  It is, at least here in Brazil, quite expensive, but for me it worked to get him eating again.

Johnnie is a front-leg amp, and even though he just completed 2 months from surgery, he gets tired of eating standing up. We have been feeding him laying down, almost like the old Greeks and Romans.  Will try to take a picture today and post it.

Good luck!  sending positive vibes from Rio.

I agree, she IS cute!

OK, maybe I've asked this before, but have you tried the method of just walking away and leaving the food there, without coaxing her? Sorry if I already wondered this...

Cute? She is beyond cute! Oh, those eyes. She is just adorable! I agree on the Royal Canine Recovery, you can get it from your vet. That worked for a bit as did high quality canned cat food and canned chicken. Seemed like anything that smelled strong was a go. Ty just seemed to go through phases where the food that worked for days just suddenly didn't get it. Same thing, bag after bag of kibble, canned dog food, home cooking, you name it, I tried it. Scrambled eggs remained his favorite. Served on a paper plate. I actually would hold the plate for him as he was a front amp. Not sure if it is available in your area, but Freshpet was what he would eat for the longest. It is refrigerated and comes in a roll that you slice up. Stinks! He loved it. As a matter of fact, my 2 here still eat it. I went through weeks of trying to get them back on their regular food to no avail. I still put some dry out for them to nibble, they will snack at it after the tasty stuff. I researched it on dog food advisor and it is rated well. It does however, contain rice, so not carb free. The paper plate seemed to be one answer for him. Not really sure why. And....he got served his meals in his bed. Hey, I was desperate, poor boy was getting so skinny. Give her a big smooch on that adorable face for me. Lori and Ty

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

How's my tri-pawd family doing today?

We continue to have Bailey challenge us with the food... we leave water running in the bathroom and now walk out because she hears everything and if Bella is getting attention forget it... they both get fed at the same time but she just shovels it out!

We walk out most of the time and a few minutes later she comes hopping out...

Tonight she did eat her kibble laying down... (Daniela and Johnny!  Bailey is a front leg amp. also.)... only I hand fed her with her sister giving me the eye and turning her head like how could I give her something and she not get it... (so I gave in and had my daughter get a handful of kibble and she sat beside us on their comfy beds eating... Bella (her sister just throws her head when she is mad... it's kind of funny because she has a gorilla mask face!)

I can say that I do love every bit of this time with her even though she's being a little stubborn!

Trust me I am taking all this in and Sue we haven't tried cat food but I am going to the pet store... Blue Buffalo takes food back 100% guaranteed and it goes to the rescues... maybe we all should just keep doing this... (just kidding!) I know they have a refrigerated section of dog food I'm not sure of the name but I will check that out also.

Jerry we do leave her alone after she shovels it all out so we can put it back.  (I need to post a video on here is it hard?)

Well she did have a meal tonight of ProPlan Lamb and Rice Shreds so AMEN sista!

Thanks for all the responses, I sincerely appreciate each and everyone of you!

HUGS,

Tracy and Bailey

Simple! If you upload the video to YouTube, all you have to do is paste the share URL on a line by itself and it will automatically embed in your post. If you have any trouble, just search or post in the Tech Support forum.

I'm SO glad to catch up on Bailey's story!  WAHOO!!!  Sure, the struggle continues and she's being a little difficult, but to be DONE with chemo and have her HOME!  I'm SOOOOOO happy!

~ Katy & Jackson

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

Well, awwww the food challenges continue.

I'm thrilled we are done with the oncologist and x-rays.  I just hate the thought of bringing her back to (THAT) place for her back leg.  It seems like she's crossing her legs and can't get up.  I'm a mess between not sleeping, her crying, I don't think she's in pain, I help her up and take her out sometimes she just smells the air at 2am but that's ok.

I know, I'm always asking for what to do next.  Jerry you did give me some good advice... tough love... it's so hard.

Her sweet face get's me every time!  Especially when I catch a tear.

HUGS,

Tracy and Bailey

Ask away Tracy, that's why we're here. I'm glad you're seeing the oncologist. Try not to think of it as such a negative thing, see it as a peace-of-mind thing, because never forget, education and knowledge is power. At least by getting an expert's opinion, you'll know what (if anything) you might be dealing with. Try to get some sleep and keep us posted tomorrow OK?

We love her sweet face too!

Just talked to VSS because Bailey started whining just while I was sitting on the couch. Her feet are crossing when she's hopping and she cries when she tries to get up.  I'm hoping pulled muscle but they said tonight it could be neurological? They said she's most likely in pain at night not being able to change positions so I definitely could give her the tramadol.  Does anyone remember if that made her sick... my head is spinning.

Tramadol usually causes whining and panting as side effects, not nausea. I hope it helps.

Breathe Tracy, breathe! You are strong, you can get through this. Remember, she will follow your lead.

DEAR SWEET TRACY!!!!

I'm sure your head IS spinning dear one! This journey without extra challenges is enough to drive anyone nuts!!! Then add the challenges Bailey's been experiencing recently and it can make a person stone cold over the top nuts!

DITTO everything Jerry said!

Also we just had a ppst here on a dog with very similar symptons and it is a neurological condition that can affect dogs, especially as they "mature"!!!!!
It causes the dogs to have vertigo and dizziness and, of course, not wanting to eat if they are dizzy!
IT'S TREATABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Prednisone and fluids and it sould turn her around in several days!!!

Sending you so much love!!!!!!! PLEASE POST WHEN YOU CAN TOMORROW.....PLEASE!
