The visual of her spinning around and re-positioning herself...soo sweet. Bailey is such an amazing girl.

No matter what...no matter what...you've restored some quality time and some wonderfully happg memories back into these last couple of weeks with Bailey. Even if...IF...it was the result of loading her up on meds, it worked!! Even if...IF... it was a temporary fix for a few weeks of "good days", it worked!

Bailey has wagged...she's done her "garage" trick...shee picked up her appetite...she's gotten up on her own..shee had some wonderful days in the sun and innthe cool shade on her pretty blanket...she's barked.....she even ate out of her bowl, even though she prefers being spoon fed by her humans!

I hope Dr. Snodgrass can offer some good feedback and suggestions.

I love that you put the ac on!!! Yoh are amazing! Now go grab a sweater and cozy up to Bailey!

Remew, we are all still wrapping you in hugs...warm and snuggly hugs!

Love you!

Sally and Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle

Kiss that paw again for all of us, okay?

Just saw the side effect of the Pred....did not know that. There is a time when "dangerous" drugs can really do good things...for awhile anyway. I don't know what' determines "long terms use" that can cause damage, versus shorter term use with no ill effects. I'm sure she was hoping a reduced dose would be sufficient.

You and Dr. Snodgrass can determine the thin line between drugd "giving her extended quality"....or starting to be ineffective and causing da.age.

Now, this is about the most UNINFORMED...completely guessing...statement I could make. While the doses for five days were pretty high potency, and the now daily dose is somewhat...somewhat on the high end, but not danerously so for short term use,,the issues Bailey is experiencing today may have nothing to do woth the doseage. It could be that the meds just can't really remedy wjatever is going on anymore than theynhave. I doubt that I'm making any sense at all! And..on top of that of course...I'm no vet!

I think we could all use ice cream right now!!! And maybe you can actually get six hours sleep tonight if the dose of two codeine pretty much zaps her out!!

Regardless, eat a whole lot of junk food wjenever you wake up! Meds for Bailey...junk food for mom!!!

HUGGING.......HUGGING TIGHTLY!!!

Thanks Sally, love ya!

It's another kick in the stomach tonight... the tears when they run down her face when she's laying down is the worse.

We have been given time to see her be herself again and I am very blessed.  I guess I just thought I would get her back to where she was.  I know I'm not giving up at all, I really thought we were at the top of that MOUNTAIN again!

I just want this moment in time back... look at her go!

Lots of love SALLY!  I know the meds are complicated to get the right dosage and I guess I thought the dosage was low... but I also didn't realize the damage it can do... but I think it's because she's been once again washed out of the two a day she's feeling crappy.

Thanks for all your help.

Love an tight hugs,

Tracy and Bailey

And look at you...posting a Youtub like a computer geek!!

Miracles can still happen!!

Okay, I'm having trouble making the video play though. Ill keep trying!

I understand wanting to "turn back time"..I guess everyonenhere getnit. The thingn s...and this is hard...right now Bailey is with you and, even if today wasn't a good day, it doee mean that tomorrow cantw be a better day.

Try and stay innthe present..not the yesterdays...not the tomorrows...right now Bailey is resting comfortably and she is with you.

This is a journey that has a devasting ending for almost all of us. But that does NOT negate the wonderful, wonderful years we've had together...and today does not negate the improvements over the last couple kf weeks. It took a long time for Bailey to getnin this condition. And you've only been on Pred. a short time and you've only been with Dr. Snodgrass a relatively short time.

The tears could be because you're freezingnher butt off with the a/c cut down to thirty!!! Are her teeth chattering too?

Okay...gonna go try and see the video....if you can play it, it's just the stupid connection being weak through Verizon.

Be right back!

Tracy, we also, had to weigh the benefits against the side effects. The Pred. made Ty's head get real skinny. I called it his dinosaur head. He was on it because the vet seemed to think that he had an immune system problem that caused the secondary growth, tumor, infection, what ever it really was. He was at one point taking 20 mg. 2 x a day. We then took it down to 10mg. 2 x a day. Every time we tried to go down further, his fever went up. It was such a hard call. I quite understand the feelings you are going through. Keeping you and Bailey in my thoughts and prayers. Love from, Lori and Ty

Beautiful video!  I confess I get a bit nervous when our younger dog and Johnnie engage in these "Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu" moments, usually after dinner, because I´m always afraid that he will hurt his remaining front leg.  Fact is that they know how to protect themselves.

Waiting to see what Dr. Snodgrass will say.

hugs and positive thoughts,

Daniela

Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet.   Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues.   Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle.  October 17:  started having seizures.  Taking fenobarbital for seizures.  April 18: started prednisone.

Well like everyone else this post makes me cry to post because I have to say we will most likely be letting Bailey go where she's pain free.

I feel like someone punched me in the gut at 2 am with her screaming in pain and we couldn't get her comfortable at all.

The three of us just laid by her rubbing her ears, belly and face just trying to calm her down and slow her breathing down.  Finally at about 6:30 she fell asleep.  When she woke up she was screaming/crying again (has anyone experienced this screaming/crying, she's so loud and it just scares be to death I just shake.) I seriously feel like I have been kicked in the stomach... then my daughter tells me that her right back leg is failing her now and she can't walk at all.  My daughter was telling me (my husband didn't want to tell me before he left for work) that when they tried taking her out they had to carry her but when they set her down she just laid down and refused to go.

I called the vet as soon as I could up the dosage on pred to 1 2x daily, 2 codeine every 4 hours and 1 gabapentin every 8.  She is doing mobile calls and is booked up but it is possible for the other doctor to see her that's in her office Dr. Garden.

Around 10:00 am today she woke up and was doing that scream (my daughter is like "that's not good Mom, that's bad.) She had never heard her do that because she was at college when this all started.  I tried using the Rescue Remedy Recovery drops (I think I drained the bottle, then I put her thunder shirt on her and she started to calm down once again.  Mackenzie wanted to try to get her out to go potty because she drank a lot of water earlier... so we literally carried her with towels around her belly outside.  Bailey can't stand and just doesn't even try to walk she just will let her legs drag.  So when we set her down I held her harness and she went just a few drops and then wanted to lie down, and she didn't want us carrying her back in, I'm sure it hurts her.

Once back in the house she did eat her food off the fork with me opening her mouth (not willing) but not spitting it out and she did drink a lot of water.  At the moment Mackenzie is with her rubbing her ears and I'm waiting for another call back from the vet.

So as I promised her quality of life it's only fair to keep my promise.  My husband is working and he called and said we need to contact someone it's not fair to her.

Yeah this day sucks, I can't quit crying, I know those of you who went through this journey have felt like this and want just a few more days. But I can't be selfish and keep putting her through all this pain.

Bailey's birthday is coming up at the end of the month 10/22/2006; her registered name is "Bailey's Sweet Irish Cream"

I'll talk later.sadcrying

I was just looking at her papers and her Mom and Dad were show dogs.  Show dogs have very unusual names at times.  Her daddy a harlequin was Kaos (Kaotic Oracle Icon) and her mommy a mantel was Vodu (Knowdoubt Wiccan Vodu Queen)

Just looking through some papers... Mom and Dad had interesting names maybe that's why my Bailey is such a fighter.

Tracy, my heart goes out to you, I'm really so sad and sorry to read your latest updates. You have done SO much to help your girl and she rallied, she had been doing so well! But I understand exactly where you're at in this journey and how you feel, we too had the Prednisone ups and downs and then had to make the decision as to whether or not to continue it, and finally came to the point where we realized that it was Jerry's time, that his quality of life wasn't there anymore.

I'm so sorry. Just know that if you do let her go, today is Jerry's birthday and there is a big party of Tripawd heroes waiting to welcome her with open paws and wagging tails and lots of doggie kisses. I hope that vision can bring you some comfort.

{{{{{hugs}}}} & love to you and especially Bailey, our beautiful hero

Tracy, I am so sorry to read this! cancer sucks!!!!madI only use that word in connection with cancer. don't want my Granddaughter picking it up and saying it at preschool. If you do let Bailey run to the bridge, know that you have done everything (above and beyond) for her. This disease is a monster. I know all the emotions you are feeling right now. Just know that in the end, the gift of release from their tired, sick bodies is the one final, unselfish gift that we can present them with. It hurts, hurts like hell! Just take a bit of comfort from the fact that she will be pain free, running, running, playing, and wagging that tail with all she has at the bridge. I am pretty sure that Ty will run up to her and drop a shoe at her feet. Please stay close here. It was a great comfort to me to be able to come here when no one else understood. We get it! We have walked the road.
love fro, Lori and TY

Sigh.  Wow.  Well, you have tried your hardest!  Bailey has tried her hardest!  Both of you are supreme warriors, always focusing on the best and sometimes the little triumphs.  She'd had them!  You've had them!  But now it sounds like things are not longer worth it - she's telling you its enough and ready to be free of pain.  Sending you LOADS of hugs and well wishes.  This is tough tough tough.  But in the end, it is the sweetest gift.

HUGS

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love.
