YES INDEED JERRY, the TRIPAWDS MAGIC AND LOVING SUPPORT IS WORKING!

As Sally put it "Keep on, Keeping On BAILEY!"

I'm so excited I just want to keep taking her outside and letting her exercise and strengthen that leg!!! She is putting weight on it not all the time but it's a huge step in the right direction.  Thanking God above for his helping hands!

I will try to post tomorrow about our visit with Dr. Snodgrass and see what she says! clap

Love and Tight Hugs,

Tracy and Bailey

Happy tears this morning after watching that video!

I haven't been able to post each time but I have been watching this thread and keeping you and Bailey in my thoughts.

Every time I take my 15 pound, 14 year old, quad-pug outside and have to straighten out her back legs I am amazed by what you and your family have gone through for Bailey. I know how hard it is to deal with severe mobility problems in a small dog that you can carry and has 4 legs, I can only imagine how hard it must be for you and a Tripawd Great Dane.

Keep the faith!

Update:  Everything went fine with acupuncture and Dr. Snodgrass was really surprised.  I'm little nervous to say the least because she reduced the pred. to once a day and said she will see her in two weeks.  I know good right.. just a little nervous about reducing the pred. so soon.

I have a cute video of her eating outside yesterday... once again I'm trying to figure how to post.  I know its lack of brain cells!

Love and tight hugs,

Tracy and Bailey

Pred is powerful stuff, I'm sure that the decrease is necessary and good for her overall health, so it should be fine.

To post the video URL, just scroll beneath the video and look for the "SHARE" link. Copy the URL and paste on a line by itself in the forum post. That should do it! Can't wait.

Thanks for the update......been waiting....will come back to n ight for the video!!! YAAAAY!

What dose was Bailey on twice a day??

What dose is she on now once a day?

Generally...just based on my experience with Pred. during the years......the plan usualy starts with a higher dose, then continues a slow reduction to determine what's the most effective minimal amount.....often times tapering off to every other day.....or , sometimes bumping it back up a notch.

How bout the pain meds....is she still o n Gaba plus codeine?

The important thingnis she n is feeling better!!!! Pure magic!!!!

Can't wait to see the video! This is just wonderful!
Don't overdo it Miss Bailey.......you've got to build up your strength and stamina slowly!

HUGGING!!!!!!!!!

Hey Sally,

She is on 30 mg. of Pred. once a day now along with Codeine 1 1/2 every 6 hours and Gabapentin 3/4 every 8 hours.

Her appetite is sure picking up but I still feel like she's not getting enough with this canned food.

It sounds like the balance of pain meds, the acupuncture, the Pred. are all doing what needs to be done together! And add a whole lot of loving care from mom and Bailey wags!!!

Her tummy probably is probably pretty tiny right now from not eating so she can only n hold so much until she stretches it out a bit. Just continue to feed her several small meals a day.

And yeah, that still sounds like a good steady dose of Pred. so I wouldn't worry at all about the reduction.

Now listen up Miss Tracy!! We have to get you back to being in the moment and not worrying (I know...easier said than done)!!

Look at the miracles you have right in front of you....things you hoped for but never thought you would see...

This is so sweet and so loving! Bailey looks alert, engaged and HUNGRY!!! And that was a lot of food for a dog who's been eating almost nothing!!!

And I love Sophie innthe background voicing her displeasure at all this attention and hand feeding Miss Bailey is getting!

Tracy,

the video worked!  so nice to see Bailey eating normally - and Sally is right, she has to eat small portions now, because she spent so much time eating so little that her stomach won't accept large amounts in these first days.  This canned food is super concentrated, to compensate the smaller quantities the dogs are eating.  I know the anxiety to get things back to normal is high, but do give Bailey time to readapt to walking and eating.  The important issue here is to see if she is progressing, i.e. if one day is better and "more normal" than the other.  For now that is what we are seeing here through your posts, and we are all very thrilled with Bailey's recovery.  She is a fighter, and so are you and your family.  Your strength and perseverance is an example for all of us, so we can also keep our faith and persevere with our fur babies.

Daniela, Yeaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm glad it's working.

The past few days have been amazing here and she just wants to hang in the front yard.  I know pred. can be a good/bad drug and hard on the body so I'm trusting the doctor (like I should) and we will overcome this. I know baby steps and one day at a time and she will progressively get stronger.

We are enjoying every minute of it... it's so cute to see her tag wag and she's playing with me again... well she's doing her playful side-eyed growl when I say I'm going to get her... she normally pounces towards me but in due time! We have a routine down when she goes out, as soon as she hits the grass the harness comes off.  I'm letting her get up on her own and then she actually stands while I put her harness on her... just for my reassurance that she won't fall down that one little step out of the kitchen into the garage.  Once she's down she has been pretty much hopping along until she gets to the grass and it's like MOM take the harness off!!!

Guys... if you could have been here the Thursday before Labor Day.  We had three days of pain and not wanting to walk and being forced fed.  I do believe the Angels above were pulling for her and there's a reason the vet was not able to come to our house that weekend... he was out having fun... good for him! Thank you Heavenly Father!

I am truly blessed to have family on here.  I'm going to try and be a better family member and post for others like they supported myself and Bailey.  It makes a difference and it works wonders and you never ever give up the FAITH. THERE WILL BE BETTER DAYS AHEAD FOR ALL THE TRI-PAWDS!

Thanks for the support (as always) and prayers.  I love my tri-pawd family.

Love and tight hugs,

Tracy and Bailey

P.S. Bella a/k/a big sista... the voice in the background of this video was very displeased with me, she kept trying to pull her leash out from under me... She weighs 152+ and I weigh 92 pounds... it wasn't an easy task.  Our regular vet is not going to be happy, but it is so hard giving all the attention to Bailey and watch the emotions from Bella throwing her head down hard on the floor look at you with sad eyes and turn her head... it's funny but it's sad... so we have to make sure she gets a little something.
