Oooh yeah that does sound like a good reason to hold off on any more chemo. There is an alternative oral chemo called leukeran that some oncos use in situations like this but if Eva is that susceptible I would be nervous about trying any more too.

I think I will have to ask about that! I typed a reply to this a week ago and I guess it got lost in cyberspace.

Things have changed now, and I'm not sure I'll be continuing with the alternative veterinarian for a specific personalized protocol of supplements.... As much as I wanted to, I feel like it just isn't financially viable to be going out to see her every month and getting the meds every month and get this- to book a consultation I have to pay a 300$ fee over the phone via credit card even though I'm inside the vets office seeing THE SAME DOCTOR for chemo.... every single week almost I see her.... and i just feel like at that point theyre more interested in getting my money than taking care of eva.

I think from this point, we just have to handle it ourselves as we have tried every "for sure" method there was available to us. So i am going to look to order some k9 immunity plus, apocaps , and or Artemisinin

Hmmmm....interesting arrangement they have going on at that specialty clinic!

You sound like you're really fine tuning your plan now. Keeping things as simple as possible and as stress free as possible for you AND Eva is very therapeutic!!

It's now time for you and Eva to get in with enjoying life! Although, Eva already mastered that the day she.was born!

Thanks for the update and big hugs to pretty Eva from us all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

They've done a great job with Eva but this oncologist almost makes me feel like she's trying to assume she's smarter than me. Which she totally is, but that doesn't mean I need to be talked down to or treated like I'm an idiot. But I asked her at our most recent appointment some questions about what the consultation with the alternative doctor would entail and she didn't really seem like she knew, so to find out she IS the alternative meds doctor (which I thought she was in the first place) sort of just makes me feel like she's trying to weasel some more money out...

I just feel like these supplements are gonna be the same things relatively that she suggests, and I just can't keep paying 600$ a month as a college student on top of her 300$ xrays the first three months and every three months after that and all of this yanno? it's just not realistic unless I KNEW it was gonna give us significantly more time.

I know I've done everything I could've, and I know Eva is happy. Now it's in her hands and what I've learned about supplements myself to try to figure it out to keep helping her to the best of my ability.

Why don't you see if you can get her in to see Dr. Swanson out at MSU?  The oncology program is basically closed since Dr. Kitchell left 2 years ago, but Dr. Swanson sees patients on Mondays.  I'm not sure how they handle new patients since Murphy was already going there.  Plus she's a Downriver girl - she grew up in Trenton! smiley

That whole wanting $$ ahead of time to book a consultation sounds like a bunch of whoohy!

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

Well Eva will be done with chemo next week. If she gets mets, we can't do chemo again anyway. Plus the only days I'm able to take her in are Wednesdays early, Fridays, or the weekend. We booked her oncology consultation ahead of time and paid the same way, but it was 56 dollars... I'm not gonna pay 300$ to talk to the doctor I already see, because if I decide at the end of the consultation not to move forward with their protocol, I still just paid 300$ for nothing lol.

I think at this point we just do X rays and the supplements that I think will help.

What's so annoying is that I thought she was THE ENTIRE TIME because we've discussed E's potential to move into a clinical trial, but at this time the trial has changed to the point to where I no longer feel it would benefit her. I just can't comprehend why I need to spend 300$ on one hour of this lady's time, especially if I decide not to go through with it, considering my onco consult, and my surgical, only 56$ each.
