[Image Can Not Be Found]After we quit chemo I was looking for other things to try.  We did some Artemisinin and Artemix but after a while Levi didn't seem to tolerate it well.  I also tried these teapills called Stasis of the Mansion or Xue Fu Zhu Yu Wan.  They are only $12 on Amazon.  Maybe I'm imagining things, but I really don't think so....Levi has had ridiculous amounts of energy and like I mentioned in an earlier post he keeps exceeding all of his doctors guesses of how long he'll live.  I would definitely recommend.

Pathwithpaws.com is the website I read about it on...

I'm kind of curious to see if his mets have grown since our last xray because I started giving them to him at that time...I can't bring myself to do the xray...I don't want to be disappointed.

Levi was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-7-11
Ampuversary 10-14-11
Lung Mets Discovered 1-4-12. Chemo seemed to not be working so we switched to Artemisinin and other supplements. In May, Levi developed a sinus infection and started having seizures. The cancer had moved to his brain. We let him go 6-26-12.

I just LOVE it when our pups make the doctors look silly!!! big-grin

I have wondered about Levi and hadn't seen any post recently, so I am thrilled to hear how well he is doing.  Keep up the good work Levi!!

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

So happy to hear Levi is one energy stoked boy or rather Tripawd warrior dude!

It's really good to hear about the herbal med Stasis - I know it has worked well for others on other websites.

The links are great and I am ordering Lylee some to add to her mix of pills (don't tell her thou!)

Hugs to you!

Hey that's terrific! Thanks for sharing the info. We've asked the PathWithPaws doctor to come on Tripawd Talk Radio and she wants to but we need to schedule something. We'll announce it in the Forums when we can get her to say yes!

Remember, you don't have to do the x-rays if you don't want to. Some people do, some don't, it's a very individual decision.

We went 17 months without doing them and when we did, the news was that the mets had begun. It was difficult and like starting all over again. Would we do things the same way and skip the routine x-rays? I'm not sure. For us, there was something great about living each day as if it were our last and not knowing. But on the other hand, when we did find out about the mets we had information we needed to make decisions about next steps in treatment. Having the information was empowering. But I can't say the way we did things is what everyone should do when dealing with osteo.

Just a reminder to everyone before taking any herbs or supplements  - always check with your vet before trying something!  Some herbs aren't "harmless" and can interact with other meds.

Just a reminder to be careful!

Thanks for telling us about Levi's amazing story. He is an inspiration to many of us who are right in the middle of the same situation as you are! Go, Levi, go!

K, an 8 year old chocolate lab, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the radius and ulna on 12/23/11. She had stereotactic radiation to kill the bone tumors, and 3 rounds of carboplatin. On 3/16/12, lung mets were found. We tried several different kinds of chemotherapy to slow the lung mets but none worked. Finally, mets appeared at other sites, including her spine. She earned her angel wings on July 15, 2012. K changed my life, and I'll never forget her. Our/my journey is chronicled at romp-roll-rockies.blogspot.com.
