I don't know if you guys have seen this.  It is a study done over a period of 5 years or so of bone cancer in dogs who have been spayed or nuetered before they were 1 year old.  I guess there is a hormone that comes into play that signicantly increases the risk of bone cancer in big breed dogs that have been spayed or neutered before age 1.

I hope this works!

Thanks Elizabeth. I have read this before. The flip side is that it doesn't do much good to neuter a male after one year of age at least not for the reasons most neuter males. Fortis is intact. There's proof…..I posted a picture a few days ago smiley

Seriously, this is good info. Thanks for sharing it. I  hope all is well with Sammy and his family.

Posted a picture?cryconfusedaw-shucksway-confused  um…. of what? I am laughing right now.

We are great in the Pac NW.  I am snowed in and loving it.  I get to have 5 days home with my little bundle and my crew.  I have been roaming the internet looking for anything that might up the anti in kicking the crap out of cancer… on a budget.  It snowed 8 inches here, then went into permafrost at 13 degrees.  It took me 4 hours to go 30 miles to get home the other night.

So here I sit.  My puppies are bored and want to go outside, but as soon as I send them out, they turn around and paw at the door to come back in.  My big boy Titan keeps walking in circles and stopping by my chair to breath hard on me.  He is tired of laying around!

I have to find something interesting for them to do in an 1100 square foot house, where they won't get too crazy and attack each other… any suggestions?

Elizabeth, I'm bored right along with you and your pups. Fortis is resting and doesn't want to do anything and I'm ADHD and can't stand to sit still for long periods smile

I think your best defense against the C might be those 13 degree temps………just freeze the crap right out of it. Seriously, Sammy is lucky to have found you (and we know the Samster's not adopted) Elizabeth. Try not to worry to much about the C. I have pretty much relied on prayer and it's free.

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions for what to do with the pups when your all snowed in. Maybe you could go outside and build Frosty! Use Oreo cookies for the eyes, a hot dog for the nose and mouth and for good measure slap some peanut butter on top for a make shift beanie. Then let the pack loose. At the very least you'll have eluded cabin fever and will have a nice snowman in the yard. Sorry, that's the  best I've got right now.

Oh, here is the link to the picture of intact Fortis.

Oh my gosh, I actually looked!big-grin

I like the idea of snowmen.  It would be better than what Titan is planing now.  He is a huge and dominant male and he only does what I say because my husband backs me up.  Today, it is just me and my 3.  He keeps circling me like a shark… he comes up behind my chair and breathes on my hair, it is spooky!

I love him and I know he won't hurt me, but he has a funny look about him today.  Maybe cabin fever?  He keeps getting all twitchy and when I get up he gets up and blocks my way.  When I try to go around him he sticks his head straight up and his tail straight up and pulls his ears back.  I think he is either telling me to sit down or he wants something… I am just pretending there is something really interesting on the ground and walk around him and go about my business.

Prayers are my constant, they soothe me and give me comfort.  I have faith.

Okay, I will start a new thread on indoor fun for free with your puppies!
