Over a dozen university-based vet oncology centers around the U.S. are currently participating in this clinical trial to evaluate an anti-metastatic therapeutic drug called Rapamycin.

Purpose: All dogs will receive standard of care. Standard of care includes surgical removal of tumor and four doses of carboplatin chemotherapy. Dogs will be randomized at time of enrollment to either be in study COTC022 (standard of care alone) or COTC021 (standard of care followed by 4 months of rapamycin administration). The antimetastatic effects of rapaymcin will be compared to standard of care alone. 160 dogs will be enrolled on this study.

Has anyone participated in this study?  What was your experience?  My Greyhound with presumed osteosarcoma will have surgery at Texas A&M next week, including final histology for inclusion in the study.

My boy is a 9 year old, neutered male named DOMINO.  He is white with black markings, including a 'spot' on the top of his head that looks like the spinner on a domino. laughing

Domino sounds like a cutie! We can't wait to follow along on his adventures. Do start a new topic so he can have the spotlight. We can't wait!
