well..in honor of what they did to Sally, I donated to the rescue I got bets from, and will do the same to bob's rescue group. I would have done the same to this one had they any semblence of professionalism. especially because they are begging their online followers to fund a shelter for their group.

I jave to tell you this onenthing....because this is EXACTLY how MY INTERNET FRIENDS....MY BFF INTERNET FRIENDS....were thinking........

I was trying to line everything up rapidly and comply withntheir rewuirements...because ....in their post they wanted Gunther in a home for CHRISTMAS....I just didntw know they meant 2015......my bad!!!!!!!

Anyway...a local rescue here....who are REALLY busy housing and caring for ON their property about thirty to forty dogs (this "other" rescue showed pictures of, I believe, about eight or so dogs?)......whom I've adopted SENIOR dogs from....have been out to my place, etc. and call when their is a real senior hardship case.....were thrilled to make a home inspection for the Illinois group and write a letter on my behalf. I emailed her today the responses and background info. from this "person" and she was APPALLED AND SHOCKED at the response.....ABSOLUTELY floored!!!

She saidnit was CLEAR everyone was stressing the value of Gunther being in my home because of being a tripawd and how valuable, not onlymy first hand knowledge was, but the VALUE OF BEING BACKED BY SUCH A KNOWLEDGEABLE AND SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY!!!!!!

I just share this with you because I want so badly to streesw to you we did EXACTLY the right thing and to give a third lawty validation from someone who is VERY BUSY with a rescue group!!!

Okay....because I think we can all laugh some now....I'll share one more tidbit.....she said when she DID t three references from people who KNEW me...Not my INTERNET FRIENDS (okay...Imw laughing but steam does come out of my ears...because, as you all know, it's just myself and my dogs and very, very few people have been to mynhouse and actually watched me inter-act with my dogs!).........SHE would contact THEM....AT HER CONVENIENCE!!!!!....Again...I guess that could be....when hell freezes over perhaps?????

LORI.....To have a donation made to your rescue group as a result of this makes it all good!!! And I know you jave so much onnyour mind right now....I hope you got my email...

Oh dear Sally, I'm sorry to hear it's gone this direction and has you smoking! Out of your ears that is.

I just saw a Netflix show where they rescued a very agile tri-pawed (black) dog and thought it would be very easy to place. It wasn't and they were very surprised. It took a number of weeks. And these were very experienced people for hard to place pets.

Gunther may not be so easy to place so I would think this rescue group would be thrilled with so much enthusiasm. Mind you we might all be marching to a different drummer...

I just entered a photo of Mona in an on-line photo contest of cats and dogs dressed up and displaying the spirit of Christmas. Mona chose to imitate a butterball turkey. She's very creative. I thought for sure they'd reject the photo but they accepted it! So there are people out there that can think outside of the box. And we can all keep an eye open for the best furry friend to join your family. There are rescue groups who would truly appreciate what you have to offer.

All the best for the holidays to you and Merry Myrtle.

10 PM my foot, I am waiting till midnight to call her. ( just kidding) I won't stir up the witch's pot. She can just sit in it and stew awhile. So mean. Some people think that makes them important or something to be mean to people. She was mean to our Sally! That doesn't fly around here. Sally, don't lose hope, if this does not go through, there are plenty of well run rescues out there. Keep an eye on the one I got Daryl from. Pets with Disabilities. They are in Md. And will travel up to 6 hours. Terrific people! I had to fill out the application before they would tell me much, but I heard back within 2 days of them receiving it. Hang in there, we all love you Sally! Lori, TY, C,L and Daryl

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

My dearest Sally,

I am rarely speechless. Just...wow. No words. I had my letter all written in my head to send tonight. :-(

You and others here know that I work with several rescue groups. About 98% of people in the rescue community are the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. They would do anything for their dogs and for a dog in need, and they donate countless hours of time, and their own money too--and they would literally give you the shirt off their back.

Then there are the 2% or so...and they give the 98% of wonderful rescue people a bad rap. It sounds like you're dealing with someone who is in that 2%, or else someone who has had a really, really bad week (or month) and maybe she'll come to her senses.

In any case, theirs and Gunther's loss means that Happy Hannah has someone who is even more special in store for our Sally.

Here's a thought... How about everyone here who sent an email to the rescue on behalf of Sally email me their letters? I will be happy to copy and paste and compile everyone's letters into a PDF or a Word doc so when the right dog comes up that Sally applies for all I need to do is hit 'send.' Maybe some of my rescue work in central and in Northern VA and the fact that I do home visits and adoption screenings will give me some local 'street cred' with whichever rescue is involved. (Plus I had the honor of meeting Sally in person...and hopefully will again soon!)

If that approach is okay with you, Sally, folks can send their letters of support to me at asa8705 at [I will add the rest of the e-m later after I get Sally's okay]. A quick FYI/public service announcement: I am always wary of ID theft scambot programs that troll message forums for email addresses and phone numbers and names, so that's why never post them in full in a single online forum.

Anyway, Sally, you are a better woman than I am for dealing with this craziness so gracefully--not to mention somehow making all of us crack up in the process as only you can do, when we really want to scream. You are a truesuperstar!

Hugs and lots of love from the President and VP of the Sally Fan Club,

Yay! Sally green lighted my idea of compiling all the emails of support into a single doc for future reference. If you wrote one on her behalf just email it to me. In my earlier reply to this thread I posted the first part of my contact info (the part that comes before the @ symbol -- I never post an e-m address in public forums due to scambots that fish for them).

The last part after the @ symbol is yahoo dot com (in the usual format).

I know that Happy Hannah will send Sally the perfect second pup for her, so I'll put the recommendations together and we'll be ready when the references are needed for oursuperstarSally!

Mine has been sent your way.

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

I will compose one over the holiday and email it.  I want it to sound awesome and if I write it on the fly I will make horrible mistakes (typos, grammar etc) So you are more than welcome to edit it also LOL

Hugs

I am sorry you have had such a hassle with this rescue person. Many rescue coordinators also have full time jobs so maybe she is just stressed with work and the holidays but it seems you have been treated rudely!

After Tazzie died I spent a lot of time looking for a Mastiff to rescue. I would recommend Friends of Rescued Mastiffs (FORM) and there are local groups listed with the Mastiff Club of America (MCOA).  Unfortunately there are not often many dogs available which is why I eventually purchased a puppy (Julian).

I hope that things still work out for you with this dog!
