Don't worry, everyone still loves Comet!

Comment moderation is dependent upon each blogger's activated anti-spam plugins and discussion settings. Akismet, however, has recently had some issues with their servers being reachable. (Akismet is the primary anti-spam plugin activated by default for all Tripawds bloggers. It fails if their servers cannot validate our API key.)

A new version of Akismet was recently released which we installed and activated across the Tripawds network. Since the plugin was temporarily missing during this process, new comments are possibly being considered first comments, which on most blogs are held for moderation (the default setting). 

We just approved Comet's comment on WRD's post and even approved Monkeybutt's comment on Mattie's blog. Future comments on theose two blogs should be automatically approved. (Feel free to test that theory.) Any other blogs holding your recent comments may still await moderation.

Other than that, if a blogger mistakenly spams one of your comments, future ones may be automatically identifeid as spam. Or as recently happened to Fortis, if a blogger accidentally blacklists the IP address of a commenter, all future comments will be immeduiately trashed. A little power is a dangerous thing.

So, if anyone has concerns about their comments not being approved, please provide as much information as possible – which blog, what comment, when, etc. – and we'll look into it for you.

Regarding site performance… "slow" is relative and may be affected by anything from server loads or local network issues, to an overloaded browser cache. There have been a couple times recently, like during our live chats or when we're performing backups and upgrades, when http requests may have been affected, but overall system health is good and performing as expected.

Fair Warning: We'll be doing some database maintenance and and doing some options tweaking to try and address the performance issue, so things may seem to get even worse at times, before they get better. Stay tuned…
