I got an email from Dan this morning saying he can't get on tripawds and has been trying for 3 days.  The first thing that came to mind was the IP issues from before.

Here's his IP [deleted]

That IP address was not in our Firewall's csf deny table. In other words, it has not been blocked. We'll need some more information from Dan with the details about "can't get on" … Does the web page load at all? If not what errors are present? Can he view the site using a proxy server server such as freeproxyserver.net?

FYI: The only times IP addresses of legitimate users have been blocked, the cause has been multiple failed login attempts. This is a security measure to block spambots and cloaked user accounts.

This apprently was not the case for Dan, unless the IP address provided is dynamic and had changed by the time he gave it to you. We suggest he try again, and provide as much information about the issue as possible, sending us his current IP address directly to jerry [at] tripawds.com as soon as he experiences any trouble.

PS: By "Dan" do you mean djbockman? If so, all appears to be in order with his account. If not, please provide a username and we'll look into it.

I'm on top of it!  I just sent him an email telling me to get all the info on what the "can't open that site" page really says.

Yes, it's that Dan.  I just grabbed his IP from his email, so I dunno.  I can have him email you.

Where the heck have you been for the last week?  You've missed some real knee-slappers!

His mailserver probably has a different IP. We'll email him instructions for sending us his address by visiting a site like whatismyipaddress.com or whatismyip.com. Thanks!

My knees can't handle much more slapping.

Suggestion here, once you get this resolved, you may want to delete this topic thread entirely or at least delete any mention of a specific IP address. It is probably just my paranoid conspiricy personna, but personally I would not want mine shown. I know that this IP is in all probabilty the IP of his ISP, but one can never be too careful.

When our IP was blocked months ago during one of the major upgrades, I was able to use my AOL phone access to log on and communicate. A similar method of communication if one cannot log on directly, would be a smart phone.  Since these methods will use different IP addresses, they should not be blocked.

This issue is one of the reasons I have jerry [at] tripawds.com in my address book and whatismyipaddress.com in my favorite places. I would recommend to all to have both of these close at hand for backup.

Thanks again to Comet.

Hi Guys,

I always have the same problem as Dan when I attempt to log in from one of my home computers. Admin, if you remember we discussed the issue over several emails and it resolved itself for a month or so then when back to blocking me again. I can access the website and log in with no problem from our othercomputer which uses a different internet provider and I can access the website but not log in from my BB. FYI when I attempt to log in on the "blocked" computer it gives me the message that internet explorer cannot find the page I'm looking for and that the site may be busy etc.

If you can access the site, but are have trouble logging in, your IP address has not been blocked. If you cannot even load the website, then this may be the case.

Anyone who thinks they may have been blocked should visit either whatismyipaddress.com or whatismyip.com from the blocked computer and email your IP address to Jerry. We can then remove the block, if indeed you have been blocked.

PS: Dan's IP was blocked, due to multiple failed login attempts within a five minute period. This has been the case every time it has ever happened, and is a security measure to protect members from having their accounts hijacked. Always be sure to use the Forgot Password link when logging in if necessary.

I can access the website but not log in from my BB.

I can log in on my iPhone, but can't respond to any of the forums.  I now know why, since you said it is due to the fact that TinyMCE is not supported by my phone's browser smiley I just learned something today!
