Just a test here to see that embedding images by url is indeed functioning properly ...

imagine garden rocks

OK. Image Url embedding is working, from various domains, but disregard that red x / green check validating images in the pop-up business. I got confused. That's for uploading photos to blogs, not here in the forums.

I'm not sure where you're seeing a red x ... ? Way Confused

Please note that if an image is on a site that requires a user log-in to view it, it will not display here.

The red X I am seeing is what's showing up where I posted my pics. Instead of seeing the picture there, I see a red X in a box. The weird thing is, on Saturday and Sunday, 1 of the three pictures were showing up on the post, but today none of the pics are showing up. Just 3 red X's.

And at first cairasue's mom couldn't see the pictures, but then she could. But no one else can see them What Ever. She said something about she was using google reader when she could see the pics, but I'm not too sure what that is.

Thanks,

Michelle

Images may or may not preview in certain readers. Videos will most likely not.

Please paste in the image url(s) directly here as a reply, so I can investigate further.

Never mind ... I found that post where you embedded pictures and fixed it. Not sure what was wrong. The image urls were valid, and from what you described, you pasted the code in properly. I just re-saved the post and they displayed. Please let us know here if you continue to have problems posting pictures.

Just in case anyone is having trouble with this. I commonly use Firefox as my browser - but when I "post" or "reply" the 'bar' at the top of the edit window will not show up in Firefox (this is the bar that lets you insert images). I loaded the site in IE and it works fine. I did update both browsers to see if maybe that was the issue and that did not resolve it. If this information is already known I'm sorry for the redundancy - just trying to be helpful to us all..

Interesting, we hadn't heard of that issue. Thanks for the tip!

FYI: We also allow users to select which editor they prefer to use under Personal Options in their discussion forum profile. Might want to see if this makes a difference.

How big is the preferred size for pictures posted in a blog or post?

Embarassed So sorry ... I could have sworn I answered this!

We resize all photos for Jerry's tripawds galleries to 640x480 before upload, but anything larger than 400x300 is really overkill for most Tripawds Blogs themes.

The smaller the better really, as larger images will just need to be resized when composing posts, take longer to download, and just consume upload space faster. FYI: Free blog accounts include a 25MB upload quota. Supporter Blogs get 1GB.

The best recommendation is to use image editing software to reduce the file size before upload. In Adobe Photoshop, select Image -> Image Size and set the image to 400 pixels wide.

PS: The maximum file size allowed for upload is 3.5 MB which is much larger than any photo need be for online viewing. Jerry's recent blog post about how to make the most of your free Tripawds Blog may also be a helpful read.

This usually indicates your default post editor has been changed. To get the editing butons to appear you must change your default editor back to "Tiny MCE" ... Here's how:

  1. Click your forums Profile button above.
  2. Click the Personal Options tab.
  3. Select Rich Text (Tiny MCE) for your prefered default editor.
  4. Update Profile

The buttons should then appear, and then you can follw the directions in this topic for emedding images.

Hi,  I'm stressed out about Rosie, I'm trying to post some pictures, and it's telling me I don't have any more room.  I upgraded my subscription to supporter to have the 1 gig of space.  I've only uploaded about 8 pictures and it's already telling me I have to delete pictures before I can upload anymore????

I've read all over on the site the instructions on how to upload images and I think I understand.  But I don't understand why it won't let me upload any more pictures since I upgraded my subscription.  What am I doing wrong???  HELP ..  I can't deal with this now, it worked so good at first.?

When I upload I thought it was resizing them to that medium setting that shows.  ?  Perhaps my pictures are too big?

Thanks

Rosie's mom

We are terribly sorry you had to deal with this difficulty right now. We have reset your blog's quota and confirmed successful upload.

To answer your questions ...

You were not doing anything wrong.

Your pictures appear to be of appropriate size for blog use. I notice they are all 640x480, but there ar 20 (not) and they've all been uploaded in the last 45 minutes too. Did you perhaps delete previous images and upload these?

Regardless, images do not get resized upon upload. If you upload a 1MB file, it will use 1MB of space.

Anyway, all should be working well with your media library now. Sorry once again for the inconvenience.
