I have no idea where I should be posting this, so mods go ahead and move this to where it belongs :)

We recently adopted a Golden Retriever puppy who was born with a deformed left front paw. We named her Gracie, and she will be trained as a companion dog to help our 9 year old daughter Ashley who has PDD-NOS.

Here is a picture of Ashley and Gracie the night we brought her home.

The Tripawds site has helped us a lot, and my 14 year old twin daughters would like to donate a watercolor portrait to benefit the Tripawds site. Portraits are hand drawn and painted from your photograph.

They are 8 x 10 and include a blue mat. Other mat colors may be available on request. I am not sure exactly how to set this up, so I will wait for someone from the Tripawds site to contact me.

Here is a watercolor portrait they did of Gracie.

You can view some more of the girls' artwork on their web site here:

Thank you!

That's really cute!! I myself just got into watercoloring (more of an oil painter myself) and I think your daughters' works look awesome! When I was doing my custom T shirt offer (T made of their own tripawd for those who donated X $$ ), I posted it in the "Shout Outs" forum.  I don't know that it matters as like you said, they can move it wherever they deem fit.

A very generous offer and I am sure people will take you up on it!

Thank you! I don't know anything about art. Our girls were adopted from China and struggled with severe speech and language issues. Around 3 years old they both started drawing and they have amazed us ever since. When they were too shy to talk to other children because of their speech problems, the art really helped because wherever they went children would ask them to draw.

As an artist myself (more of a hobby actually, I'm a grad student in marine science) I like to mix media like watercolor and colored pencil.  It gives the watercolor more depth if you layer some pencil on top.  I am always looking for new techniques and you might suggest this to your girls and see if they like it!

Kim,

What a kind offer! Your daughters are very special.

I think they both do beautiful work.

My prayers go out to you and your family. I bet Gracie makes a loving companion dog for your daughter Ashley.  Their photo together is just precious.

I went back and looked at your previous post and the pictures are adorable. Sorry I missed it.

Oh, what a sweet and loving offer from you girls.  Those are precious!  You have some very talented daughters!  I'm a little tapped with having to replace a tooth that my dog Rocket broke out but I know someone will love them.

Give those sweetie pie girls an extra hug!  And then send one of them to me since you have two matching ones – you surely won't miss one!smiley

(I think this goes in "shoutouts" – but I don't know how to move everyone's post, so I'm going to let it sit, it's fine by me)

Oh, I just looked at their work and it's so special!!   I'm getting one in a couple of months if that's okay and they'll do one then?   How much would your little artists charge (donation?) for commission work?  Could they do a bigger version of Comet's avatar (I have a much bigger pic of it) since it's such a reminder of her laugh?  She's 12 now and I know one day, I'll want a reminder of of all laughs we had here.

Thank you very much for this generous offer! Your children and their artwork is beautiful. How 'bout we hold an auction for the custom portrait? Since this topic has strayed off subject a bit, we'll start a new one with complete details in the Shout Outs forum… stay tuned.

PS: Sorry for the delayed response, we were out yesterday afternoon taking Wyatt to his group class!

Sure, they will take orders anytime, and can really do whatever size you want. They usually paint 8 x 10 because there are lots of pre-cut mats available for that size. We haven't gotten to the point where they are doing their own mat cutting yet, but there are pre-cut mats available in other sizes as well, so just let us know what you need when you are ready.

The girls are giving away one watercolor pet portrait as part of the auction to benefit the Tripawds web site.  In addition,  they are also offering custom pet portraits and pre-packaged notecards on their web site http://www.meil…..esigns.net for a donation towards Gracie's Assistance Dog training.  We really didn't know how much to ask for, so I guess we were just going to let it up to people who wanted to order to decide how much they want to contribute as long as the donation is more than our expenses (mats for paintings, and printing for notecards) and whatever it costs to ship the items.

Do you think it would be better to set an exact donation price or a minimum donation price on our site? I was planning on setting it up with Paypal buttons. We are new to this, so I am not sure what would work best.

Thank you all for your help and nice comments about our girls and their art work.
