Read on for complete details about tomorrow's K9 Cancer Walk from the Morris Animal Foundation…

Dear K9 Cancer Walk participant,

Thank you for participating in the 3rd Annual Morris Animal Foundation K9 Cancer Walk in Elk Grove, on Saturday, May 7. We are looking forward to an amazing event and thank you for your support!

We have extended the deadline for the Top Dogs Contest and online registration to Friday, May 6th at noon! Please reach out to your friends and family so they can help you be the Top Dog at this year's K9 Cancer Walk!

Visit http://www.K9Ca…..erWalk.org for additional registrations and to see the latest updates and enthusiasm surrounding this year's walk.

K9 Cancer Walk Location:

Elk Grove Regional Park
9950 Elk Grove-Florin Rd
Elk Grove, CA 95264

K9 Cancer Walk Schedule

8:30 a.m. Registration/Check-in and Canine Health Fair

9:30 a.m. K9 Cancer Walk begins

10:30 a.m. Speaker Presentation

11:00 a.m. – Canine Celebration and Canine Health Fair continues

Park Entrance

The main park entrance will be closed. Construction on Park Road will limit access for the walk to Gate 5 only. Gate 5 is accessed from East Stockton Boulevard.

Check-in

Check-in will open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. You may pick up your T-shirt and bandanna upon checking in. Parents of survivor dogs will have a special VIP check-in area so be sure to look for the yellow Survivor Check –In.

Onsite Registration

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. Those people who wish to participate in the walk and have not preregistered online can sign up on event day.

Canine Health Fair

At various times throughout the morning special guest speakers will be sharing their expertise with you on canine health topics from puppy to senior years. Click here for speaker, subject, location, and times.

Safety and Courtesy

Dogs must be leashed at all times. We strongly discourage the use of retractable leashes. If this is the only leash available, DO NOT extend it past 6 feet.

Please clean up after your dog. Disposable waste bags will be available throughout the K9 Cancer Walk. Trash and recycle bins will be located along the path for waste bag and water-bottle disposal.

Memorialize Your Pet

This year we are encouraging participants to share why they are participating in the Morris Animal Foundation K9 Cancer Walk. We are providing two opportunities to do so:

1. Visit the Morris Animal Foundation Memorial Tent and post your photo and story of the best    friend that you are memorializing at the walk or read about the many dogs that will be memorialized on this special day.

2. A "Walking in Memory of" K9 Cancer Walk button will be available at the Morris Animal Foundation booth for an additional $5 donation. We will provide a button insert for you to write the name of the dog you are memorializing, or you may bring a miniature photo to insert in your button. Limited supplies are available.

Prize Drawing

Visit the Morris Animal Foundation booth for your chance to win exciting prizes! Winners will be chosen at the end of the speakers' program.

Tune in to Good Day Sacramento

On Friday morning, May 6, Good Day Sacramento will feature the K9 Cancer Walk during the 9:00 a.m. hour. Be sure to tune in!

Featured Speaker

After the beautiful walk you and your best friend can enjoy our featured speaker: veterinarian Dr. Michael Kent, from the University of California – Davis. Dr. Kent is board certified in both medical and radiation oncology. His research interests include clinical trials and tumor biology of melanoma, osteosarcoma and lymphoma.

Vendors and Goodie Bags

Be sure to visit our vendors and sponsors — we have over 40 businesses featuring their services and products at this year's K9 Cancer Walk and their booths will be open from 8:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. If you think you might be looking for the new love of your life, please visit the booths of the local rescues of which many of them will have adoptable dogs. Don't forget to pick up your goodie bag at the end of the walk!

Thank you again for supporting Morris Animal Foundation's Canine Cancer Campaign. We are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday to celebrate the lives of your best friends!

Pugapalooza will be there tomorrow.  I'll be wearing my red tri-pug power t-shirt with Mag's Tripawds bandanna hanging from my belt. Or you could look for the two black pugs…

I'll have my supply of Tripawds cards and bandanna's to spread the word about the site.

Who else will be there?

UPDATE: The Morris Animal Foundation just posted this video from the walk which we believe features Team Tripawds member Sierra (@1:05). Photos from the walk are also now available from hmlopezphotography.com, see the K9 Cancer Walk Gallery (expires 06/16) which also includes a nice shot of Sierra.
