In our family we have 3 dogs: Murphy (tripawd), Cassie & Max; and 3 cats: Jasmine, Rascal & Daisy.

For the walk it will be myself, my husband & Murphy attending.  We are so excited! smiley

And whoo hoo for Team Tripawds!  Over $4000!  That's amazing! clap

Well our family is down to just 5 year old Riley after loosing both Max in January and Ollie in April.  Would love to bring Riley but he's not too used to long car rides so guess he'll be staying home for puppy up walk.  He's so good with other dogs bet he'd love to be there.

Actually now that I think about it if Paula does bring hers maybe I would meet her in Green Bay and follow her in my car with Riley.  Course then I'd probably have to get my own room because of Riley.  Something to ponder and talk with her about.

Well after doing a little research it appears dogs under 40 pounds are only allowed.  So Riley won't be coming because he's 78#s.  Bummer.

Where do you see 40 lbs?  I did not see that in the walk rules, although they do have something about vaccines.  Otis has his rabies, but not the others.  Will have to think about that, but obviously, other than for a rabies tag, I can't imagine anyone checking.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

That's at the hotel I meant not the puppy up walk. 😀  Sorry I should have been more specific I guess I just figure everyone can read my mind.  😀  They're saying only 40#s for dogs to stay at the hotel.

Linda ~

When I called the Sheraton and asked what their rules were for dogs, I was told that it could just be 1 dog,  it could not be left alone in the room, it had to be on a leash at all times, it could not be taken into the restaurant and that there is a $100 security deposit.  They never said anything about a size.  Murphy weighs about 50lbs.

I've been on the fence all along about whether to bring Otis.  First, it was whether he would even still be alive.  And then, would he be healthy enough?  Would there be too much hopping even if we just hang at the booth?  Would it be too hot?  Canine flu?  Now, I am sitting here thinking about the vaccine rule and thinking that if I don't bring him, I might just start to cry at the event.  If he is able to come, it will be our last event together.   What a mess I am!  Otis is off bothering the cats, and couldn't care less.  Be More Dog .

Thanks for clarifying.  We can wear his rabies tag and license, but no way I can pretend Otis is less than 40 pounds.

Awe Christine my heart hurts for you.  Yup just let Otis guide you day by day.  He may be here a lot longer than you figure.  Live each day and try not to look ahead.  Easier said than done I know.  Donna I'm just going off what their website says.  I'm sure since you're coming for the puppy up walk and Murphy is a Tripawd to boot they'll be fine with it.  I always lie about what I weigh too 😂.  Maybe they just put that on their website to discourage people with big dogs.  If that's what u were told I'm sure you're fine.  For 100.00 more you should be able to bring a Great Dane if u want to 😉

Donna and Linda, if you're here, hop into chat and let's discuss

Paula

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

Somehow I doubt that the average hotel clerk can tell a 40 pound dog from a 50, 60 or 70 pound dog.  Or cares.   My guess is more interested making sure you pay the pet fee.

Christine ~

I felt exactly the same way!  I was so unsure at first whether or not we should commit to coming... Murphy was already 3 years, and September seemed so far away.  Then I thought, well, if he doesn't make it, then we could bring Cassie to represent him (never Max!  lol he would just bark the whole time!)  Now of course I worry about how far is it from where we will be parked to where the booth is ... will it be too far for him?  We've never traveled with him before, but he's good in the car.  Hopefully he doesn't poop in the hotelpoopicon_pngugh lol He doesn't ever have an accident at home, but vet offices, that's another story!  I'm looking at this whole trip, though, as a sort of bucket list sort of thing.  Although I don't think dogs really have bucket lists.  It will all work out!

I took Maggie to my first K9 Cancer walk (Morris Animal Foundation) in May of 2010.  Mag had been diagnosed with her second cancer and was dealing with renal failure.  We didn't do the walk but hung around with the rest of the Tripawd team- both Tripawds and Spirit Tripawds and their packs.  Mag crossed the Bridge on June 2nd.

It was so wonderful to be around the other Tripawds and their packs, not to mention 100s of people and dogs fighting their own cancer battles, people who could really understand where we were on the journey. It was definitely a bittersweet day but one of my fondest memories of that time period. I had no idea that Mag would cross so soon, I was just trying to make sure everyday was a good day for her.

When she first lost her leg I spent a lot of time worrying about when the end would come (they gave her 6 to 9 months) and I missed out on actually living life with her.  I didn't make that mistake the second time.

If Otis is feeling OK then you should take him.  There will be lots of people there to help if needed, and you can always get him wet if it is too hot. Not only will you build another memory with Otis, but all those people you are going to meet in person with get to love on him- which is a very cool thing!

Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.

Looks like Tripawds exhibit space will be larger to accommodate the pawesome crew that's attending Puppy Up! 🙂

We will also be donating a one-of-a-kind commemorative Puppy Up jewelry piece from the Tripawds Etsy Shop for the raffle that's happening that day. Wheeee!
