I am at the Hinsdale Humane Society Pet Walk and just met Lynn Baker of the PuppyUp Foundation!  She is really excited about the participation of the Tripawds Nation at the event.  Will have my daughter post photos when I get home.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Thank you to The Sidley Austin Foundation, the charitable foundation of the global law firm of Sidley Austin LLP, for their generous donation of $500 in support of Team Tripawds.   The Foundation was matching the very generous gift of one of their Chicago based attorneys.

Lori!!! I would love to walk with you minus my fuzzy Tripawd! Nitro hates other dogs, so unfortunately he most likely won't be making the trip.

Paula

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

We would love to have you join us Lori!  I am not sure yet whether I will have dogs or not - Tess tore her cruciate last summer and cannot do the distance.   If Otis is still with me in September, he might come, but he also cannot walk the distance.  But I know that several people will be there without tripawds or with their angel tripawds there in spirit.

We're gonna plan on coming.  We plan on bringing Murphy, but he can't walk 2 miles, so he'll just hang out.  If, for some reason we can't bring Murphy, maybe we could bring Cassie...she does ok with other dogs, Max is better off staying home lol

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

So I found a hotel that's just a couple minutes from where the walk will be that allows dogs.

http://www.sher.....lisle.com/

I signed up for their Starwood Preferred Guest program, it just took a minute to do & I got my number right then ... the rate with that discount is $84/night for a king or 2 queens.

Their pet policy is $100 security deposit; 1 dog; the dog cannot be left in the room alone; the dog can't be taken into the restaurant; the dog must be on a leash at all times.

Donna I think Paula and I are staying overnight too.  Are you staying Friday or Saturday night?  We're thinking of coming Friday and staying over then.

It's about a 5 hour drive for us, so we're planning on driving over Friday and staying until Sunday morning smiley

Team Tripawds has now raised $2735 in support of the PuppyUp Foundation!  If you are thinking of coming, consider formally joining the team via the link at the start of this forum so that you can create a personal page with a picture of your Tripawd or angel.  (No one has to, of course!)

Paula and I were talking and thought maybe we could plan a supper meet and greet at a dog friendly park for Friday night for those of us coming a day earlier and anyone who lives in the area too.   We could just get some sort of take out like subway or something maybe a bottle of wine and have fun with each other and our furry friends.   Did you hear Michelle is going to try and come too?   Christine you live in the area don't you?  Maybe you can let us know a place we could meet up that's pet friendly?  This is going to be so much fun!

Wow that's amazing!

And it's so cool that funds will go to studies like the one we just posted about at the University of Wisconsin:
