The second annual Morris Animal Foundation's K9 Cancer Walk will be held April 24, 2010 in Sacramento, CA and we just created the virtual Team Tripawds so you can walk along! Read on for complete details or visit Jerry's Team Tripawds page to register for the walk and/or support the cause.

K9 Cancer Walk – Join us April 24th for the 2nd Annual K9 Cancer Walk

More than six million dogs are diagnosed with cancer each year with half of all dogs being affected by cancer—but together, we can beat this disease. Join us on April 24th at beautiful Elk Grove Regional Park in Elk Grove, 11 miles South of Sacramento and walk for a cure. 100% of all walk registration fees, vendor fees and donations go directly to support Morris Animal Foundation's Canine Cancer Campaign to fund research for canine cancer, early detection methods, effective treatments and ultimately a cure!

Walk registration and check in 8:30-9:45 am. The walk starts at 10 am, with a short 3 K Lake walk and a 6 K park perimeter trail walk, do one or both. After the walks, speakers will discuss canine cancer, prevention, wellness and other topics. Learn the facts about canine cancer and how to examine your dog for early signs of cancer.

Featured Speakers:

Visit the vendor booths and exhibits. Drawings and awards will be held after the walk.

Early Registration Fee: (prior to 4/11/2010) $30 Adults; $15 Child (10 years or older)

Register on-line or download the PDF Registration Form.

All walkers will receive a t-shirt and a Canine Cancer Campaign bandana for their dog. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the shaded 500 person picnic area.

Can't attend the walk but want to help? Register for a "Virtual Walk"! The Sit and Stay option lets you support a great cause and receive a t-shirt, a Canine Cancer Campaign bandana for your dog, and a thank you note in the mail.

Please help with this very worthy cause by sharing this email with dog loving friends, family and coworkers.

The K9 Cancer Walk is hosted by the Sacramento Canine Cancer Campaign Volunteers.

This just in from our friends at the Morris Animal Foundation …

The K9 Cancer Walk has exceeded $10,000! We're 1/3 of a way towards our goal. Congratulations for being a part of that!

By participating in the K9 Cancer Walk, you are an inspiration in the fight against canine cancer. Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) thanks you for your commitment to raising funds for our Canine Cancer Campaign by starting a team and encouraging your friends, family and community to participate and/or donate in support of your team.

Here are some tips to reaching your team goals:

  • Encourage your team members to establish personal goals and use the tools provided by our Web site to reach them. Make sure your team members update their personal pages with photos of the dogs that fulfill their lives or those that they’re walking in memory of and e-mail as many people as they can.
  • Start a competition among team members to see who can raise the most money for your team.
  • Choose another team with which you can have a friendly competition.
  • Visit local pet friendly businesses you support, such as your veterinarian, groomer, pet food supplier, dog park association, etc., and inform them about the Walk. Encourage them to join your team or raise money toward your team goal.
  • Look for local companies that can become your team sponsor and ask them to match any funds your team raises.

Another way to get involved: MAF’s K9 Cancer Walk Volunteer Committee has put together a baseball fundraiser in support of the K9 Cancer Walk in Elk Grove:

Make money for your team! Saturday night, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. the River Cats at Raley Field, click here to download the flier. Sell tickets to this game to your friends and family—$3 from each ticket goes toward your team goal for the K9 Cancer Walk. To buy tickets or for additional information, contact K9 Cancer Walk volunteer and team captain Shirlee Thomas at 916.727.7068 or at shirleet1 [at] yahoo.com.

Team Tripawds is currently at 63% of our fundraising goal for the K9 Cancer Walk. So… consider this you're encouragement folks! Everyone can start by joining Team Tripawds in the fight against canine cancer!

I'm seriously considering flying down for this now that I'm on the West Coast.  When is the latest we can register?  I need to decide if I can afford it yet.  Is anyone going, or are you all doing the virtual walk?  Can I still go since I would have to leave Jack at home?

Wowwwweee! That would be GREAT!

Of course you can go without Jack, I'm sure there will be your pick of loaner dogs!

You can register up to the day of the walk, doesn't matter.

Yes, I believe that others will actually be there too!

Yipee! Hope you can make it!

Howdy, I don't know what happened to our earlier post, but the Petite Princess will be there with her wagon and servants in tow!

We should be easy to spot, very cute, gold, 3 legged dog in black harness with bling, red wagon and 2 servants suppling her every need!

Oh yeah, we just got a $75.00 check from one of my co workers who lost a fur baby to cancer.

Take care, the chauffeurwink

We're all signed up and have even received our special Cherry T-shirts with her avatar ordered just for the event!  Looking forward to seeing all our friends!   We're also walking for Miss Allie who we lost two years ago to cancer.
