Please convery our condolences to your friend. We are here to offer support in any way that will help. We, like no others can, understand the depth of loss once you take the tripawd journey. That was an incredibly quick transition, but the dog was given the best chance possible

Do you think Ti has trouble gettingnup because of the sore leg? Also, it may be that for awhile after amputation you need to use a harness or a towel sling to help him get up.

Hopefully you can get some clarity tomorrow. None of us should be in this gut wrenching position...but we are...and we all make decisions out of love and with the belief tha whatever decision we make is what our dogs or cats would want us to make. And that's the best we can do.

You are a wonder advocate for Ti...he's a very luck "little" ,,boy!!!

Hugs to all.....HUGE, HUGE, HUGE HUGS to that Ti! What a sweetie!!

X-rays look clear.. There is one nodule that the vet thinks is a lymph node. Hopefully the radiologist agrees!!

Hi!

I know your post was old but my English Mastiff Czar was diagnosed with bone cancer yesterday on his Right front leg and the oncologist have given us several option along with amputating his leg. He also has a plate on his right rear leg from hip dyspepsia from his was 6 months old.  The oncologist thinks he a good candidate for amputation but we are not sure how he will do after amputation especially with having a plate on his hind. He will be 8 yrs on these Sunday and weighs 175 lbs. Anyways one have a similar experience?

Hi Czar and family, welcome. We hope you'll post a new topic about Czar here so we can follow along and answer your questions whichever way you want to proceed.

We've had many Mastiffs do really well after surgery. 175 is big but it's not impossible to be a three-legged dog at that size. If you want extra reassurance, get a second opinion from a board-certified orthopedic vet. That's awesome your onco thinks he's a good candidate.

Besides here in the Forums, you should check out Tripawds News Blog posts about Mastifs, and all Tripawds blogs about Mastifs. One in particular, Louie, is loving life and going strong today, he's over a year out now!

I hope this helps. Keep us posted and again, start a new topic and register as a member so your posts won't have to wait for approval OK?
