I am in the Houston-Galveston (TX) metro area. If something might work I would be willing to try it as long as it isn't holding out false hopes.

Hi Martie

I am very happy to hear that the x-rays showed Killer to be cancer free in her spine. That is definitely a big step in the right direction. Hoping you find someone involved in rehab to provide good advice now.

I started to celebrate the clean x-ray and then read on.  I am so sorry for what you are going through with Killer.  It is totally unfair, you are so right.  I am not disabled and could not support Emily who was 65 pounds.  My husband and grown sons had to be home to take her out.  If the cancer had been in her spine the decision would have been made for you.

Before finding out Emily's cancer had moved to her spine I was reading different articles about how to know when it was time.  One doctor suggested taking taking a jar and putting one colored ball in for your dog's good day and a different color for your dog's bad days.  When the bad out numbered the good then it was time.  At the time Emily was having no good days so I didn't want to hear that but we thought we were dealing with hip dysplasia at the time.

You might want to consider the physical therapy.  That way you know you have tried everything.

I am so very sorry for what you are going through.  It is hard to see proud independent dogs because so helpless.

Have you consulted with the Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists?  That was the closest oncology center to us, we're in Orange.  They were recommended by our diagnosing vet, but we wanted a primary care close to home. I made an appointment with them, but then cancelled it because I wanted Trouble's treatment closer to home than that offered.

Emilysmom, thank you for you see what I am saying. It is becoming an impossible situation, but there is nothing wrong with Killer–except she can't walk. Luckily, I'm not wheelchair-bound, but I can't use my right arm and limited use of my right leg. So I've hired on of hte vet techs to come over twice a dog and take the dog out, they give her adequan injections here at the house also

Hugapitbull, her oncologist is at GCVS and her oncologist is really great, she just thinks that if Killer can't walk, it's time to move on. She basically told me that osteosarcoma/hip dysplasia in Killer's case was a distinciton without a difference.

I will get the acupunture assessment tomorrow afternoon and then must make a decsion.

Lots of good thoughts coming your way from us on the accupuncture assessment.  I know this is a very difficult time for you.  The decisions that must be made with this illness just suck.

Oh Martie… I'm so sorry to hear all that your sweet Killer has been going through recently… You're so right… it is NOT fair what's happening… first the cancer, now this!!

I'm glad that cancer spreading to her spine has been ruled out… so I really hope that she can get some relief from her pain with the acupuncture… Please keep us posted…

I know that you probably have some very difficult decisions to make soon… It is never easy… You and Killer are in my thoughts and prayers…

Rest in peace to Killer who died this morning after battling bone cancer and hip dysplasia. She will always run fast and free in our memories and hold a big chunk of our hearts.

Will add more later, just too painful right now. But wanted to thank all of the kind and wonderful.

I'm so sorry Martie!!!! I was thinking of you and Killer all day and wondering what was happening… You did everything you possibly could for your sweet baby… My heart is aching for you right now… and the tears are flowing… Cry

We are all here for you when you are ready to pour your heart out… I know how awful you are feeling right now… All I can say is that it does get a little better… a few months later. But you will always feel an emptiness in your heart… I still cry for my angel… But try and remember all the good times you had with Killer… and all the joy she brought into your life…

Run free Killer… and say hellp to my golden angel Jake while you're in heaven…

Oh, Martie, how painful this news is for all of us.  It is my wish your grief will be replaced by the many beautiful memories you and Killer shared. It always hurts me when one of our warriors comes to the end of the journey.  We all know the day will come, but that doesn't make it any easier.  Hugs to you at this very difficult time.

RIP sweet Killer.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Martie, we are so very sorry, what a sad, sad day this is. There are many broken hearts around the world today.

Killer fought courageously, and she knows you did everthing pawsible to make her life better during her battle. Please try to be comforted by the beautiful times you shared, and someday you will be together again.

We salute your beautiful Tripawd cancer warrior, and will cherish her memory forever. Please write if you want to talk OK?

Many hugs,
