That's right, it's two years after his diagnosis and amputation and he's still with us!

I remember when I first found out Rocky had Osteosarcoma. I hoped he would make it at least 3 months but was secretly hoping for 6 months. At the one year mark, I was cautiously optimistic that he was going to be OK.

Now, two years later, I am at peace. I feel that he has beat it and that cancer will not be taking my sweet boy from me. If Rocky were to leave me today, I would be OK because I know that he has had a good, long life, and he faced cancer head on and won!

I no longer worry about every little sound he makes – is that a cough or is he just clearing his throat? Will I know a cough when I hear it? And I no longer worry when I see that he's slowing down more and more each day. He's almost 11 years old and he's been hopping around on three legs for two years now. Of course he's tired, I would be too. If he want's to rest more often, that's fine with me – he deserves it.

When the time comes, I have vowed to let him go a week too early rather than a week too late. That is the least that I can do for my buddy.

Please celebrate with us today. Rocky will be enjoying turkey burgers and peanut butter flavored cookies made with apples and cranberries. And please give your puppers a good ear scratching from me and Rocky. laugh

I remember you Rocky from when I first came here, and I couldn't agree more!  Excellent sentimentsmile  I am so glad Rocky has won, it makes my heart sing when one of ours kicks Cancer's butt out of the ball park.

We will celebrate with joy today, and ear scratches in your honor!  Happy 2 years, a feat indeed!

Elizabeth and Sammy

Rocky, you are SO awesome!  Way to kick some cancer butt! Enjoy those burgers and cookies because you so deserve it big-grin.  You are an inspiration to everyone here and a solid reminder that this fight CAN be won!

Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end.  On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us. http://ranger.t.....pawds.com/

Wow! Two years is pawsome! Enjoy the turkey burgers and cookies! Abby is going to have a Frosty Paw in your honor.

Jackie, Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. I can SO relate to that post. I could have written it myself at that two year mark. I'm so happy Rocky is doing so well and you guys are so comfortable in the journey.

Hoping Rocky has many, many glorious days ahead.
