We just wrote to Ellen, to see if she can help with our fundraising campaign. She actually has a spot on her website that says:

Do You Know Someone Who Could Use Some Cash?

If you want to share how pawesome Tripawds is with her, it might help us reach our goal! Click above to share your story.

Here is the letter we sent her. If you can write and share your enthusiasm, who knows what might happen? Thanks for considering it.

Jerry begs for Tips for Tripawds

Dear Ellen,

Thank you for all you do for animals and humans alike. You have made such a difference in this world!

Like you, my husband and I are animal advocates. We run the world's largest community for 3-legged dogs and their humans, Tripawds.com. We provide education, resources and support for dogs facing amputation either because of cancer, accidents or birth defects. The site was started in 2006, in honor of our Jerry, who lost his leg because of terminal bone cancer.

When Jerry got sick, we sold our possessions to spend our last days as a pack traveling in our RV. Our journey was featured in a PBS show, "Why We Love Cats and Dogs," which can be viewed at: http://tinyurl……SJerryShow

Jerry changed our lives, and today we volunteer full-time to maintain Tripawds. It's a labor of love, and we are honored to share his gifts with the world.

We are writing because we are in the midst of a fundraising campaign, and would like to know if you can help? Our goal is $8,245, which still doesn't pay us a salary but does cover basic website maintenance costs and some advocacy materials. Anything extra could free up our personal funds to replace the 4 year old beater laptops we work with.

If you can contribute anything, I know there are at least 2,000 Tripawd families who will be so grateful, and more in the future who will benefit from your generosity.

Thank you Ellen. We think you are the GREATEST and love what you do for this world.

Rene, Jim, Spirit Jerry & Wyatt Ray

We have some really good writers here that could do a bang up job (not me)!  But I'll try to throw something together and I'll even proofread it before sending it!

Pawsitively will do this! I watch Ellen all the time, and know how crazy she is about animals.

Skyler earned her wings and regained her right rear limb on 6/11/2010. Chloe earned her wings and joined her sister Skyler on 4/4/2011.They are now "Happy Together" with all the other Tripawd heroes and other furbabies that are running free at Rainbow Bridge.

Awww, you are all so cool!

I just remembered we forgot to mention that Oprah and Gayle loved Jerry's story! If anyone wants to throw that in, that would be fantastic.

Thank you so much! You all make Tripawds such a special place.

Oh crud, it's a 1500 character limit.  I thought I was doing pawesome with under 1500 words.  Gosh, they say that we should be specific, but only allow 1500 characters.  Don't worry!  I'll get it done somehow, but good dog that's going to be a challenge.

Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009. He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury. Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com

Most definitely will write to her….I love her show and know how important animals are to her.   I'm sure she'll be very touched by your letter too…..keeping our paws crossed smile.

Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)

P.S. I have Ellen on now and she's donating $5000 to the Humane Society if this one young actor takes off his shirt (I think he might be in the Twilight movie) – he's opting to do very impressive push-ups instead laughing .

UPDATE: just sent my letter in….

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

I have all intentions of writing, even if I do have to limit it.  We've had a couple of semi-sleepless nights (Trouble is fine – just spoiled) and I must rest so I can write a coherent sentence – otherwise Ellen may give me the money to check into rehab!  I'll get it done before the weekend is over.

Someone call Trouble out of the kitchen – she obviously thinks we should be snacking!  Spoiled, spoiled, rotten brat dog!  God, I love her :)

We just had to tell Ellen about Miles, so here's a letter we sent to her today. Feel free to spread the word again at Ellen's website!

Ellen, recently we wrote to you to tell you about our three-legged dog community, Tripawds.com, and how we are seeking support to help continue providing resources, education and support to dog parents facing amputation for their best friends.

We're writing today to tell you about the Tripwds.com first ever cross-country rescue! Through the goodness of our community's hearts, in less than one week, our community managed to coordinate a 1600 mile rescue railroad for Miles, a three-legged dog who was on the brink of euthanasia in a New Mexico shelter.

Miles is now at his new home in Northern California, with his mom Dawn, who has been a part of the Tripawds community since her beloved dog Raven was battling cancer late last year.

Dawn and Miles recently made the CBS news in Sacramento. Here is a link to the broadcast:

http://cbs13.co…..ayport.com

Ellen, thank you again for considering our request to help with our fundraising campaign. We appreciate anything you can do to help make this world a better place for our Tripawd friends.

Best wishes,

Rene, Jim, Spirit Jerry & Wyatt Ray
