I love those kinds of windows Donna! We are looking to replace a few and that's what I have my eye on! Oscar wakes us every weekend morning squeezing between the window and the blind.  It makes enough noise to wake the house lol😲

Any tips on how to deal with a jumper?

I was dog sitting for my parents last week. It was always easier to take Rocky (and now Baxter) to their house to stay with their two dogs. My parents have a gate up to keep the dogs in the family room/kitchen area. After work Friday, I went by my parents and Baxter is looking out one of the front windows. I thought maybe I left the gate open. Nope. He jumped the gate and tore down the sheers on the front windows. A few hours later, I caught him in the act jumping over the gate.

Here he is earlier in the week, before he learned how to jump the gate.

LOL!!!   I'm sorry,I shouldn't be laughing, but that's the cutest "before gate jumping" evvvver!! 🙂   He is such a one-of-a-kind looking dawg! 🙂   He is clearly not only cute and ha dsome, hesw obviously very smart too!

I love that he gets along with yiure larents' dogs so nicely.  But obviously he is very attached to you and was awaiting your return....from the window....where he could see you come back!   Such a relief

Sorry, no insight on how to stop  BBB (Baxter the Barricade Buster)!!

You HAVE to set it up so you can somehow video him doing this!   A YouTube sensation is in the making! 🙂

Oh yikes! That must have been fun 😉 He's really adorable!

Never had that problem with Wyatt, since he's missing a rear leg and can't do big jumps (thank DOG). All I can think of is more basic obedience, the whole sit/stay/reward repetition game that come along with it. Sarah Wilson's books helped us tremendously in this area, as did one-on-one training with a dog trainer.

You might try putting a blanket or towel over the gate so he can't see the other side. Since he can stand up and look over you might have to extend the height a bit.  One of those tension curtain rods would work.  Makes the gate a pain to use but might keep him on the right side while you are gone.

Good luck!

Obedience training is probably a good idea. Although he is pretty well-behaved for the most part.

My dad has a plan to attach pipe insulation to the gate to extend it a bit as a deterrent. We’ll see how that works the next time we’re over there.

And Sally, after I scolded him, it was hard not to laugh. At least he only tore down the sheers and left the expensive drapes alone.

Another pic, back at my house, looking out at the snow.
