I finally have a chance to sit down and actually do the 'shout out'.

I've been reading the boards a lot, but been travelling a lot also, so don't post much.

First–Go Trouble. DAMN!  That's the way to kick some ass!

Second–It appears at times the inmates are running the asylum……the word monkeybutt comes to mind.

Third–To all of you who've lost your fur babies, I'm so very sorry. But trust me, they are in good company.  For those who've just recently joined, I'm so sorry for the circumstances, but its a good group of people here.

So what has the clan been up to? Here's it in a nutshell.

March–Got a new malamute puppy. Named Sitka. Totally unlike Tika. This is good and bad.  She's now 13 months old and starting to settle down.

Most of 2010–Lepto dawg Caya held steady with her kidney values and enjoyed many RV trips and even got on the boat, but quickly decided it wasn't for her.  Took great joy in trying to murder her new little sister, but just in fun.

Post dog walk Estes Park, and yes. Sitka is peeing in the lake.

December 2010– Now here's where things get dicey.  The mother-in-law lost her dog, and has been in a funk, and we thought we'd find a dog for her. She needed the companionship and she was completely for it. We were going on vacation in Florida, so we searched for a rescue that we could bring home with us. (We weren't finding a suitable fit in our area for her).

Instead…..I stumble across this picture on Petfinder.

And wouldn't you know it. Spirit Tikaani starts up in my head. 'She needs you, mom.'  (she never did know when to shut up)

So YEP! We adopted Luna. She's approximately 9 months old now, purebred German Shepherd (monkey butt). She has a very similar story to Wyatt Ray. Bought, abandoned in the back yard and wound up breaking all of her toes in the fence.  Luckily for her she didn't lose her foot or leg, however, she was relinquished to the shelter because they didn't want to pay for her care.

She no longer has the cast, she is regaining strength in her noodle leg and learning how to walk properly on it.

So, instead of flying home with a pocket dog, Luna and road tripped home. And she is truly a sweet animal. Simply a happy, happy dog.  Sitka is delighted with her new friend. Caya is more like, meh.  She's also on Adequan because there's indication of some arthritic issues there.

So, Tika, thank you for you influence. You must have have had your paw on my mouse hand the whole time.

So, merrily we have been rolling along, officially a zoo in our house now. Sitka has calmed down after meeting Luna. Luna has become a complete kleptomaniac, and Caya…..

well, Caya decided to go back into renal failure.  Because we ALMOST had our vet bills paid off.  However, she's responding to fluid therapy and we'll start back up with the SubQ injections again.  Sadly though, the doctor thinks maybe a year. Dammit, don't want to do this again.

So here's a portrait of the two new ones (the only time they've been still), we hope to make it back out to Colorado this summer, but it'll depend on Caya's health.

Take care all of you, I think about all of you a lot.

–Kim

Oh, wow, Kim.  How great to hear from you.  I've thought about you so many times (and the beautiful Tika).  I'm thrilled she still talks to your heart from across the Bridge.

I so miss some of the folks that were here in our beginning, but understand how it is easy to move on.

I just started Trouble on Adequan, she's had two injections.  We're hoping it will be the miracle we are looking for.  The arthritis has really kicked her butt this winter and she really lost mobility fast. We went from a Rimadyl when she needed it in July, to twice a day about September.  Added Dasuquin about a month ago, it gave a little improvement initially, but not so much anymore.  About 2 weeks ago I had to add Tramadol back to the mix.  We're hoping for a lot more good days with the Adequan and to be able to stop the Tramadol.

Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
We honor our fellow November Five members who will always remain forever in my heart: Nova – the lone survivor, live proud and long; Spirits Max, Cherry, & Tika – who made half the journey with us and greeted Trouble at the Bridge

Hi Kim,

It is really good to hear from you.  Quite the zoo you have going on.  It is so cool to know that Tika is still keeping her paws in your life.

I'm sorry you are having to deal with renal failure in Caya (again).  I only had to deal with it in Maggie for 4 months before I lost her to the second cancer- but it was TOUGH!!  You have earned your spot in heaven many times over.

Lost Mag nine months ago tomorrow, but her moving on brought a rescue pug boy named Obie to live with Tani and I.  He was neglected and ignored and maybe abused a bit for his first four years.  He is still painfully shy with strangers, but is really outgoing with his new family.  Tani just started Rimadyl today to help with her arthritis, she is getting close to 11.  She really missed Mag when she left us- but is still not liking Obie too much.  But I know she likes the company- and has been much more energetic since Obie came around.

Stop by once in awhile and say hi and let us know how things are going.

For those who want to read about Tika the Malamute's incredible, inspawrational journey, here is a link to the posts that she started. Tika is one of the "November Five" pictured in Trouble's signature.

Oh my gosh Tika must be working her magic here too, because just this week I shared her Salmon Treat recipe with members.

It's so wonderful to hear from you Kim. You  have a total zoo on your hands, we hope you'll take it on the road to Colorado this summer so we can see you again!

I'm sorry about Caya. Aww, what's a dog family without vet bills? That would just be weird. Welcome back to our world!

All is well here, our Wyatt is keeping us on our toes (just this week he decided to make a chew toy out of a jug of ant bait….and survived. Another story for another time).

We think of you guys often and will always consider you family here. We'd also love to see those pics but they're not showing up, Admin says  the are secure images that the public isn't allowed to view. Release the key, we wanna see pics!

Good to hear from you!!!

Okay, I re-edited the post, released restrictions on the pics.

So….they should post.  If not, SOB!

BTW–Caya is a whole new dog again.  She has 9 lives, I swear.

Cheers!

Hi Kim, so great to hear from you and to hear how things are going for you. We've missed you here!  As you can see, both Nova and Trouble are still kicking cancer's butt, but not without our share of other issues.

It's so nice to hear from the "old-timers" that were here back in the beginning.  Please check in often. I love to stay connected to the "November Five".

Well… sorry, but we're not surprised they don't display because the location URLs don't end with a valid image file extension. They end with a query. In other words, SOB indeed.

That has some pics of Luna's first day at the zoo.  Second day the zoo got renamed the Looney Bin.

Happy weekend everybody.  Bring on the spring!
